Hello,

I’m Cathie and along with a team of excellent volunteers (more always needed 😉 - pop in for a chat!) I help run the Upper Eden Visitor Centre in town.

We had a fair few people in yesterday (Monday 29/12) asking about permits etc for the Clifton bridge closure happening this and next weekend.

We weren’t supplied with any documentation/permits etc, but I believe the library and Town Council’s Local Links have some.
The library will be open this Friday from 10-12 and 1-4 but you may want to double check those times with Cumbria Libraries website.

Local links is (I believe - and I could be wrong ) opening back up after Christmas break on 05/01/2026.

In the meantime, I’ve emailed the Town Council (someone may pick up email) asking for some we can hand out as we’re open more often and for longer than Local Links.

I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday (11-3) and can’t see work emails at home 👍 😉, so I’ll update tomorrow if anything changes.
