The staff and volunteers at Witton Albion would like to thank all of the fans who attended the game at the U Lock It Stadium on 14th December. It was a great gritty result on the pitch and the support and noise from the Witton fans was brilliant!
However, it was a very challenging day for the stewarding team and we are extremely grateful that our supporters acted so responsibly and did not take matters into their own hands with a small group of travelling supporters who made their presence known in the first half in the ‘home terrace’ and whose behaviour was totally inappropriate and provacative. We have purposefully avoided using segregation for three seasons now and have managed big fixtures with much larger travelling support without any serious incidents. However, if the behaviour of certain groups of travelling supporters becomes a repetitive problem then we reassure you that we will use segregation where deemed necessary. We pride ourselves on offering a matchday experience that is inclusive to all and it is essential that our fans feel safe in our stadium.
We would also like to thank those fans who helped us deal with a serious medical emergency during the second half of the game.
We are pleased to report that the individual concerned is home and resting and recovering well.
As the chairman mentioned in his update last week, we are always looking out for new enthusiastic volunteers and if you feel that you would like to get involved with the excellent match day stewarding team then please speak to Gareth Walton or Ian Stanley at one of our home games.
Thank you
UTA
