Endangered Species Day means a lot more when you’ve just had the privilege to watch one of Africa’s most endangered predators in the wild.

Seeing African wild dogs in Klaserie Private Game Reserve with lastwordhotels Kitara was a moment which I will treasure forever.

Intelligent, social, relentless hunters… and heartbreakingly rare. Fewer than 7,000 remain in the wild, with less than a 10th of that in South Africa.
