📍 Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales

One of the UK’s best-known walking challenges, the Yorkshire Three Peaks takes you across three iconic summits: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in one demanding circular route.

It’s a challenge for a reason. Covering around 24 miles with over 1,500m of ascent, it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted.

But the reward is some incredible Yorkshire scenery, from dramatic limestone landscapes and open moorland to far-reaching views across the Yorkshire Dales.

Want to take on the challenge without having to worry about navigating the route? On 5th September, I’ll be guiding a group around the Yorkshire Three Peaks, with the aim of completing the challenge in under 12 hours.

Three walks. Three days. Three counties. 🥾

There are just three walks left in August, and there’s a good mix depending on what you fancy.

📍 Saturday 29 August – Brown Knoll & Mam Tor, Peak District
A great day in the Peak District, taking in Brown Knoll and the iconic Mam Tor with some fantastic views along the way.

📍 Sunday 30 August – Roseberry Topping & Captain Cook’s Monument, North Yorkshire
A Yorkshire favourite with two well-known landmarks, taking in Roseberry Topping and heading up to Captain Cook’s Monument.

📍 Monday 31 August – Kentmere Horseshoe, Lake District
A full day in the Lakes and a fantastic horseshoe route around the Kentmere Valley. A proper mountain day with some great views.

Three different walks, three different areas and three chances to get out into the hills before August is over.

If you’ve been meaning to get out walking more this summer, why not join me for one?

I’ve always been happiest outdoors. I was in Scouts and Venture Scouts when I was younger and spent a lot of time walking, which is where my love of the mountains really started.

When I came across the Mountain Leader qualification, it seemed like a natural next step. I already had plenty of experience in the outdoors and wanted to be able to use that to lead others in the mountains.

What I enjoy most about guiding is seeing people discover what they can do.

For some, it might be their first proper mountain walk. For others, it could be achieving a goal they’ve been working towards for a long time. Being able to share some of my knowledge and experience and help people feel more confident outdoors is something I really enjoy.

There’s something about being out in the mountains that never gets old. The views, the quiet, the weather, the challenges, you never quite know what the day will bring.

The outdoors is where I’m at home, and I’d like to help more people experience just how good it can be.

If you've been meaning to spend a day in the hills, tackle your first mountain, or learn some new navigation skills, there's still time to make it happen ☀️

I've got spaces available on a number of guided walks over the coming weeks, and whether you're completely new to hill walking or looking to build your confidence in the mountains, I'd love to help.

One of the things I enjoy most about leading walks is seeing people realise they're capable of more than they thought. Reaching a summit is always rewarding, but it's the confidence you gain along the way that stays with you.

With over 30 years of experience leading people in the outdoors, my aim is simple: to help you enjoy the mountains safely, learn something new, and have a fantastic day out.

Take a look at my upcoming walks or send me a message if you'd like to find the right one for you. 📲

It’s been a busy few months out in the hills, as well as planning some exciting walks and events for the months ahead.

While this page has been a little quieter than usual, there’s lots to look forward to, so I thought it's a good time to reintroduce myself.

I'm Mark 👋 a qualified Mountain Leader and accredited Duke of Edinburgh Assessor, with over 30 years of experience exploring the hills and mountains of the UK.

Over the years I've had the privilege of helping people of all ages and abilities discover the outdoors, whether that's standing on their very first summit, learning to navigate with confidence, or leading Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

One thing I've learnt is that the mountains aren't just for experienced walkers. With the right support, they can be enjoyed by anyone.

If you've ever wanted to spend more time in the hills, improve your navigation skills, or simply discover some incredible places, I hope you'll find something here to inspire you ✨
