What does the 1953 Everest expedition and this route have in common?

A day of climbing a few classics at Wharncliffe. Strange to think that it is one of the few venues in the UK that is less popular now than it was 100 years ago.

Sport Climbing season is here!

We have been quiet recently, as we have all been out enjoying the stunning weather in the UK. Our courses have been really busy, so a big thank you to all our coustomers that have been on a course with us recently. We've had a blast and hope you have too!

Here is Max, up from London to get out sport climbing and learn some skills. He became a proper pro with a clipstick, learned to thread lower offs and did loads of climbing along the way too!

Sunshine sends you to the shade on the grit.

There are some amazing routes hidden away from the classic Peak District honeypots, if you know where to look!
This crag is a 5 minute walk from the road, yet when climbing there is no sign of it! Can anyone can name the crag or even better any route on this pincale? Hint hint

Wildcat must be one of the best crags in the Peak. Access agreement means everyone needs to abseil in to adhere to the access. Nick demonstrating here some pre-flight checks before sending off 😊

80% of all incidents in the mountains happen when going down. Lowering people down or off routes I find is a little daunting for both you and them. Safe control is key. A simple redirect from you belay device to an Italian hitch is an amazing way to add friction into the system and really give control over lowers especially when it’s steep!
