OLD SHIRE STABLES sleeps 2-6 (+2 on sofa bed) in 3 bedrooms with en-suite. Ideal for family get-togethers where you can explore the many attractions or beautiful countryside and return to the peace and tranquility and a good log fire. Quality accommodation with care & attention to detail with local craftsman used to convert barns dating back to early 1800's. Character of the barns fully retained with modern comforts and facilities incorporated throughout. Environmentally friendly technology and products used throughout - including heating from Ground Source Heat Pump and Solar Panels, Rainwater Harvesting, Eco Power Shower, Lime plaster, Organic Linseed Oil Wood paints, Eco label Earthbourne Claypaints on the walls and natural oil wood stains - yet all this is 'quietly' incorporated in the accommodation so that guests do not need to worry about how it all works. Outside there is enclosed garden areas with BBQ and furniture, 4 herb borders for guests use, butterfly 'nectar' bar flower border, stone walling and access to 1/2 acre of wildflower meadow flower during the summer months. Doorstep walks onto waymarked footpaths which include the OS map National Trails and the Churnet Valley Trail, which can also lead to the Tittesworth Reservoire Nature Trail and visitor centre with excellent childrens play area, cafe and gift shop. Excellent area for walking, outdoor pursuits with cycling and climbing close or exploring the wider Peak Park area. Suitable for visiting the many attractions in the area. Alton Towers Theme Park is only 30 minutes drive, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Ilam, Dovedale all nearby. Historic market town of Leek and spa town of Buxton close by. The Potteries Stoke on Trent has many factory outlet shops including Emma Bridgewater, Denby, Wedgewood, Burleigh, Moorcroft and the Hanley Musuem has a display of the infamous 'Staffordshire Gold Hoard'. Enjoy pampering with the excellent spa facilities at the nearby Mill Wheel Spa - only 1/2 a mile away.
