What a start tae 2024!
Howlin gales and rain that no only hit you horizontally but vertically too, dirs been days and nights oh it.
The schools are still shut and my tourists were stranded for days with cancelled boats and nae war tae go as most things hiv been closed as wir oot oh season unlike my peerie dog Apple.
Da poor souls booked extra nights as my new guests couldn’t get here which was lucky fur them.
However fir my guests as I lik tae spoil them, because while you hardly see a local oar da festive period here in Lerwick as dir aa away tae foreign climates topping up dir tan and vitamin D, I took advantage oh a grain oh peace and got the pot oh reestit mutton on and shared my home made efforts we dem dis year.
It went doon a treat as did the home sources roast lamb and veggies that I managed tae get my hands on.
Aa was forgiven fae my lovely couple fae Sheffield who told me oar some soup dat they had opened their Christmas present fae dir bairns and had found a gift token with a three night booking at Norlande Guest House. They were delighted and then wondered where is Norlande at.
Once they got the map oot and for the first time discovered a place called Shetland they said for the next 4 days it had been some planning in how tae get here.
Planes, trains and automobiles no to mention a 16 hour overnight ferry across the north sea but they made it, as did my guests all the way fae China.
Dir year ended and began on the most Northerly Island in the UK, peace and quiet, storms they've never witnessed before they said it was an experience oh a life time, then I heard dem mutter only once ever in dir life time but their fairytale warm cosy room was bliss.
My far away guests were equally blown away literally, I ended up loaning them a piece oh rope tae tie themselves together while braving the weather as off they went exploring the famous locations they had seen fae watchin the series Shetland.
They took thousand oh photos and one of them mentioned tae me that he's delighted as he's sure he will win the best photograph for his wilderness shots in his amateur compositions dis year.
For the first time in years I can also tell you I'm never been so blyde dat this computer set up that my son is accustom tae now exists, I'm never heard a peep oot oh him through it aa apart fae scoffing a grain oh denner and quickly disappearing tae his room again tae meet up with aa his pals.
Start da year as you wish tae continue day say, so fir me l’m looking forward tae meeting hundreds more amazing lovely folk who find themselves here in my guest house and when I get a chance I'm tae book my holidays tae Beijing and aa oar the UK to meet the nicest folks who are taking me tae fly dir birds oh pray and teach me sum arts skills in faraway locations.
A peerie bit oh mercy though noo in Shetland as dis is noo the fire festival season, so ony oh my guests dat appear I’m going tae direct dem dir way so they can warm demselves afore dir burning boats and be tickles pink we a grain oh whisky fae dir widely shared local bottle.
