Not everyone wants a boozey beverage! Out here in Tanzania we actually can’t get a lot of the soft drinks that guests can find back home. But on the other hand we have a pretty epic selection of mocktails, made by the team, that are definitely worth trying.

Fun fact: those photos your guide is taking as your plate hits the table? They’re not going on their Instagram. They’re going straight to the Strand family.

Every dish served across Dulana Serengeti North & South, Osunyai Lamarkau and Olerai gets photographed before it reaches the table.

Portioning, plating, presentation…the lot - under review, always. You know Gary Strand has strong opinions about symmetry and even stronger ones about sauce placement.

Is it a little intense? Sure. Many of you know that Gary has never met a detail he didn’t want to inspect twice (!!). But that pedantry runs right through the company, and it’s exactly why the kitchens across all our properties hold themselves to the same relentless standard - whether it’s breakfast on the plains or dinner under the stars.

Following the Great Migration, our heritage mobile camp moves between two spectacular locations: the dramatic, sunset-drenched North (June–November) and the remote, peaceful Hidden Valley of the South (December–May).

A little update from Gary and Jo on the road!

After an incredible six months of travel, from our home in Tanzania to the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonia and Cape Horn, we’ve landed on the North Cornish coast for a couple of weeks.

Jo has been busy walking and hiking in Wales, Gary has spent some time in North America, and now we’re looking forward to sharing our next chapter of adventures across Europe over the next three months.
