VENTURE 4x4 is delighted to be able to offer the unique opportunity of a guided 14 day self-drive expeditions to the enchanted island of Iceland during the summer and winter, as well as guided Photographic expeditions in all seasons. You can choose from one of our two different routes; the Summer Classic (two tour dates) combines overland driving with sight-seeing, whilst the Overland Expedition c

oncentrates more on the overland driving but also includes some-sight seeing. Using your own 4x4 vehicle you will travel within the expedition as a self sufficient unit, with your own camping equipment, cooking facilities etc, but with the backup and full support of both male and female expedition leaders or if you prefer you can mix B&B/Guesthouses in with the camping; however places are limited to a maximum of 4 client vehicles, per tour. All campsites have toilets and showers and some have additional cafes, cooking/dining rooms and other comfort facilities. Very occasionally there may be the need to 'wild camp'. We also run a number of Winter photographic tours which include some trips into remote places and the opportunity to take part in some green events ie Ice Caving, Bird Watching etc.

Venture 4x4 was founded in 2010 by Andrew and Dawn, born from a shared passion for remote landscapes, adventurous travel, and doing things a little differently. What began as a love for Iceland’s wild interior quickly evolved into a specialist 4x4 touring operation focused on genuine exploration rather than ticking boxes.

For over a decade, Andrew and Dawn have spent around three months each year travelling through Iceland, guiding small groups deep into the country’s highlands and lesser-known regions. Their extensive time on the ground has built an intimate knowledge of Iceland’s changing conditions, hidden routes, and extraordinary natural features from vast volcanic deserts and glaciers to remote mountain tracks rarely seen by most visitors.

Venture 4x4 is rooted in experience, flexibility, and respect for the land. Tours are shaped by weather, road conditions, and the rhythm of the landscape itself, allowing guests to experience Iceland as it truly is raw, unpredictable, and unforgettable. With Andrew and Dawn at the helm, every journey reflects years of hands-on exploration, careful planning, and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing Iceland’s wild heart with others.
