🩷 A Little Personal Post This October… 🩷
As October draws to a close, I wanted to share something a little more personal with you all today, rather than my usual travel-related posts. I’m sharing this in the hope that my story might help even just one person.
As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer, in any form, is devastating. It affects so many lives and families, and my biggest hope is that one day we find a cure for all cancers, so we no longer have to lose the people we love to this awful disease. 💔
Breast cancer is something very close to my heart because this year marks 5 years in remission for me ,something I feel incredibly blessed and grateful for. 🙏🩷
I was fortunate enough to discover my cancer early. Within a week of my diagnosis, I had surgery, and around a month later, I began treatment.
But there is something really important I want to share about my experience…
I NEVER HAD A LUMP.
And I think that’s such an important message to get across.
I simply knew that something felt different. Something wasn’t my usual normal, and thankfully, I listened to my body and got it checked.
Please, whether you’re a man or a woman, get to know your body. Check your breasts regularly, be aware of any changes, and if something doesn’t look or feel right, please don’t ignore it. Get it checked, even if you can’t feel a lump.
Not every breast cancer presents as a lump, and knowing what’s normal for you is so important.
I know how incredibly lucky I am to be here, five years on, and I will never take that for granted. My heart goes out to everyone currently fighting any form of cancer those who have come through it, and all the families who have sadly lost someone they love.
If sharing my story encourages just one person to check themselves or make that appointment they’ve been putting off, then this post will have been worth sharing.
Please check yourselves, listen to your body, and never ignore a change.
