Reuben and Sam (Holly and Andy's boys) explored the Treworgey Farm Walks today with Aunti Zo (you'll know Zoe from our office and she's also the shepherdess of Treworgey!). The walks are different through the seasons and right now, the miscanthus is freshly cut, so the Elephant Grass walks feel open with great views. The bluebells are just starting to appear, and the wild garlic is in full bloom.
If you're staying with us soon, make the most of the fold-out pocket map of these walks that we leave in your cottage and explore the farm. Even the kids will enjoy it!

Yesterday was harvest day at Treworgey. One of the main events in the annual Treworgey calendar, this is when we cut, chip and store all 25 acres of miscanthus that we grow. This will provide the energy for all our heating at hot water at Treworgey and Coombe for the year ahead, so it's really important that it goes to plan, and it did!
Thanks to and his team for a great job. Unfortunately, the team didn't spot the beer and donuts that Linda bought for the machinery drivers, so they got accidentally buried under many tonnes of miscanthus!

Holly and the kids made use of the profusion of magnolia blossom around Treworgey at the moment. The petals have a gingery, subtly floral flavour. They made a delicious syrup, which is great with sparkling water (added gin optional) and pickled magnolia petals, which can be used a bit like sushi ginger.

We were inspired by Emma Gunn (Never mind the burdocks ), who led another brilliant foraging walk and tasting session yesterday (she's back at Treworgey on the 19th March and 2nd April!). Later in the day, we went on our own expedition to collect wild garlic and made a peppery wild garlic pesto.

As the days begin to warm up we are starting to get excited. The absolute best time of the year in Cornwall is fast approaching: last spring/ early Summer (April/May) are the most beautiful times to visit, with wildflowers springing out of the hedgerows and bluebells carpeting the woodlands around the farm. The beaches are quieter, the days longer and the prices lower than later in the summer!

It isn't often you get a chance to book much less than a year in advance in this cottage! Lois is our most popular cottage of all. Sleeps two, perfect for dog owners (lovely big garden and right by the dog paddock). We've had a cancellation for 23rd March - 3rd April, but you can book any break in that gap for 3 nights or more.
