A Huge Congratulations to Julia for completing her first Marathon yesterday. The “Virtual” London Marathon is part of the official London Marathon and run on the same day. Tracking is then used used so you can run your own route.
Joined by various members of our local running club along the way, main group of four started up at the Caradon mast on Bodmin moor and made their way to the finish line on the Banjo pier in Looe (It sounds downhill but there was over 2,200 ft of accent)

The fish are moving around and sunbathing much more now as the water starts to warm (currently around 13 degrees) with these sunny days that we are having. As they wake up from the winter they are feeding more too and are getting their heads down onto the pellets that I have been feeding them throughout the winter. The first Carp of the season for me was a nice chunky common. A few days later a 20lb 6oz Mirror followed by a 17lb 12oz Mirror less than 25 minutes later and all were on different methods. The common was on a worm from under a rock, then the second on a cut down pineapple pop up and a small pva bag of pellets and the third from deeper water on Ella’s swim was via a zig rig.

The coastal path walk from West Pentire (Just on from the village of Crantock) to Holywell bay. It’s such a lovely walk with stunning scenery and wildlife. We saw plenty of grey seals and their pups as well as a pair of Choughs which we haven’t seen there before. A few weeks ago there were humpback whales sighted along here too. With a nice pub / café at either end of the walk it’s a round trip of 6 miles.

Spring is here, the sun is out and the fish are moving around. We are really looking forward to seeing our lovely friend...

Well, It’s certainly been a little stormy over the last few weeks and a number of trees and branches have come down, so we have been clearing up, replacing sections of fencing and I don’t think that we will be running out of fire wood in the near future!!Another high wind warning is in place for tonight and tomorrow too.
During one of the storms a tree came down over night and an Otter must have got in within a couple of hours and took a Common carp of around 10lb. I check the fence every day so it just shows how quickly they can get in!
We’ve been doing plenty of jobs around the lakes and Julia loves nothing more than being in those waders :-)

We moved the fish that were in the apartment pond into Lodgeside at the end of October as it isn’t protected from Otters...

We moved the fish that were in the apartment pond into Lodgeside at the end of October as it isn’t protected from Otters. In the spring some of the larger ones will be taken out of the stock pond and put into the apartment pond in the hope that they might spawn again.
