🦦 Wildlife Wednesday: Detroit Zoo
If you've been around here for more than five minutes, you'll probably know I have a slight obsession with otters. 😂
So for this week's Michigan Wildlife Wednesday, we're heading to Detroit Zoo, home to some of the most charismatic animals you'll ever have the pleasure of watching: Southern Sea Otters.
Sea otters spend much of their lives in the water, floating on their backs, cracking shellfish with rocks and generally looking as though they've mastered the art of enjoying life.
But these incredible animals are much more than just cute faces.
In the wild, sea otters play a vital role in maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems. By feeding on sea urchins, they help protect kelp forests, which provide habitat for countless other marine species.
Detroit Zoo gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about these fascinating animals and the important role they play in the natural world.
I have a feeling I'd spend most of my visit standing at the otter habitat watching them go about their day. ❤️🦦
If you could spend a day observing one animal in the wild, what would it be?
