𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 🏰
Almost growing out of the rock and with its distinctive profile set against the skyline of Eryri, Harlech Castle is one of Wales’s most famous castles and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Well worth a visit, as is the fantastic town of Harlech itself. Even better, it's just a trip up the coast away!

Ever dreamed of riding horse along gorgeous beaches or stunning mountain ranges? Bwlchgwyn Riding Centre offers rides along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, the sandy beach at Fairbourne and beyond to the foothills of the Cregennan Lakes and Cader Idris mountain range.

The nearest thing to flying! Zip World has the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe - you can reach speeds of 100mph as you descend down the Big Zipper and over the quarry lake!

𝐂𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐬 🏔️
One of the best walks in Wales! And not the tourist trap that Yr Wyddfa is in the summer - no queuing to the top, or getting blocked in at car parks! You can’t get an ice cream at the top and of course there's no train to help you - but it is far more rewarding, as locals consider it the more challenging walk, and there's nothing quite like gazing at the beautiful lake there.

The UK’s first and largest dedicated mountain bike trail, Coed y Brenin has miles of exceptional single track for experienced and expert riders, but also great family and intermediate trails for all abilities.

They stock a wide range of hire bikes to ensure that you get the most out of your visit - the visitor centre café right next door serves a great range of home cooked cakes and meals. All trails are way-marked and clearly graded and make for a great walk if you don’t fancy the ride!

Carvings like these often have strong spiritual meanings and powers, and Moai typically face inland towards a community to look after that community. So you could say our very own Moai is watching over Llwyngwril day and night, protecting them 🗿

The Garthangharad pub (known locally known as The Garth) is only a 5 min walk away - book at least 24hrs before if there are a lot of you!

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻?
If you like good Indian food, try the Bay Of Bengal either in Aberdyfi or Tywyn.

𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸?
The George III is situated on the Mawddach Estuary, so could be incorporated into a nice walk along the Mawddach Trail between Barmouth and Dolgellau. We highly recommend!

Hall Llwyngwril is also a great stop off point, and not far from Ty Gwyn either!

Our Story

Offering sleeping arrangements for up to 30, the Big house by the Sea is perfect for big family parties, special occasions and retreats.

Facilities include a dedicated cinema room with 120-inch screen, a sauna, a hot tub and a new garden room that is ideal for weddings, course and retreats, or corporate away days.

There are many facilities inside and out, and we also have a dedicated bar with authentic bar stools and benches. Sitting in there with the fire going is a superb way to put the world to rights. The house also has its own Sonos system, with speakers in every communal room, adding to the amazing atmosphere.

For those looking for a memorable break, the Big house by the Sea offers so much all in one spectacular location.
