Tartan Week Lochcarron was the outcome of a SCOTO lead (Scottish Community Tourism) workshop. Back in February this year, SCOTO invited Lochcarron to present the story of Tartan Week Lochcarron at their annual conference in Montrose. Here are a few photographs from the event. Rob Wilkinson went along to tell our story. With special thanks to Lochcarron Weavers Heritage Shop who very kindly kitted him out in Highland Dress. Rob asked the delegates of the conference to wear a short length of tartan ribbon (shown in one of the photographs), in memory of the late Peter Barr, who came up with the original idea for Tartan Week Lochcarron.

The presentation Rob gave included photographs of all the events that took place, organised by our amazing community, and talked about the exciting week of events being planned for this year.

Planning is underway! Tartan Week Lochcarron will take place from 26th September to 5th October 2025.

This is a week of fun events and activities - open to all groups and businesses to take part in any way that suits! We are activitely seeking sponsorship in particular from local Businesses, to ensure that community/voluntary organisations can get involved. The event in Sept 2024 was our first, and proved to be a great success. We hope to expand the event this year and have some great ideas of things to do.

If you would like to take part, let us know what you'd like to do?

We would love to see the village fully decorated with Tartan Flags
and Bunting, and it would be great if we can get people involved in making it to share around. What else can we do to decorate?

We have another planning meeting coming up on the 24th March at The Village Hall, more info to follow but everyone is welcome to come along and get involved.

For any info or to express an interest is doing something during the week, please contact [email protected]

Reminder of our meeting tonight - planning for Tartan Week 2025! 7.30pm at The Lochcarron Centre
