Before resorts and imports, the coconut tree was the backbone of Maldivian life.
Water for hydration. Flesh for food. Husk for rope. Shell for fire. Leaves for weaving. Nothing wasted. Nothing left behind.
Known locally as the Tree of Life, the coconut is still used in cooking, craftsmanship, and traditional ceremonies across the islands.
Long before “sustainability” became a word, it was simply the way things were.
