Our improvised trip to Dulwich finished with a visit to Roullier White in East Dulwich where we smelled ALL available Kerosene fragrances. It was a treat!

The last time I shopped here, it was for an event organised by The Perfume Society a few years ago. The boutique was run by the previous owner and looked a little bit different. The back room with perfumes is more spartan now, and I do miss the elegant shelves they had before.

This morning I’ve scrolled through a couple of pages of “Quintessential Shops in London” to feed my eyes with something beautiful, took my espresso and rushed to the Tube. It’s Saturday, it’s a Perfume Walk day.

Northern Line promised a train via Bank in 9 minutes, but there was a much earlier one through Leicester Square. I didn’t mind a longer walk to Floris London and, it was a no brainer, took an earlier train. It turned out a great decision, that brought me an unexpected gift.

I cut through the former St James’s Market, where Mr Fortnum and Mr Mason had there first shop in 1707 selling candles made of the recycled quality wax from Queen Ann’s Court. It’s so typical for London preserving the history of a place by keeping the old name when the place itself has been changed, drastically.

And there it was, the Surprise! A public display of the Quintessential Shops of London book and some historical exhibits from the businesses, including and !!!!! I risked to be late for the Walk, but I needed to take the photos of the display!

So, if you somewhere around the Piccadilly circus or going to the Haymarket Theatre tp see a play, you can pop into St James’s Square for an extra treat.

Sharing some photos with you, but they’re much better in person of course.

Thank you dear Karen and the Yardley team for a fascinating time trip through your priceless collection of vintage perfumes and soaps.

I hope it will grow to tell the story of this legendary English brand 💜

A special moment today at the perfume walk: the Yardley London Fragrance team meeting the former Yardley House in 33 Old Bond Street.

It was opened in 1931 and worked as a boutique, an ultra modern beauty salon and offices.

Welcome to August! The 8th month in our Perfume Walks calendar designed by brilliant Aurelie Aurelie Baudry Palmer - illustrator is dedicated to a legendary English brand Ormonde Jayne 🧡

If yoi haven’t visited their glamorous boutique yet, do not postpone this pleasure for long. It is happily situated in The Royal Arcade just off Old Bond Street in Mayfair.

We've had a great testing session in the new pop up! Six fragrances and one fragrance enhancer, that can be worn individually or layered.

Acoustic Rose turned out to be everybody's favourite. And a sweet price of £38 for 30 ml made us appreciate the brand even more!

The pop up is open till 26 July and we hope it turns into a permanent boutique soon.

The Barnes Fragrance Fair is just behind the corner and I’m looking forward for meeting you on 16 May!

This year Perfume Walks is offering two Scented itineraries around Barnes and blending places, personalities and fragrances into unforgettable (I’m doing my best ☺️) stories.

Every day till I’ll present one of the exhibitors hoping that it helps you to navigate in the ocean of scents waiting for you at Barnes.

I start with Elan Vital as the first thing that surprises you at Barnes is how green it is! Crossing the fields or smelling white acacia flowers, you can’t believe you are in London.

Elan Vital is grassy and a little bit earthy, leaning towards a classical masculine scent, a true “vital force”, just like its name suggests. It was the finalist in the awards for Best Independent Fragrance in 2023, and it’s not surprising at all!

Come and meet the founder Rebecca Rose on 16 May!
