Banksy in the wild! This week I took my brother in search of the newest installation of the infamous Banksy, currently sitting on Waterloo Place. This huge statue in central London shows a suited man walking forward while a large flag covers his face. The artwork suggests extreme nationalism and people blindly following pride or symbols, without seeing reality. The figure appears confident but unaware, stepping toward danger while still clinging to the past. The piece encourages viewers to question what they cannot see and think about the consequences of “blind patriotism.” We then headed to the Banksy Exhibition in South Kensington, showing exhibits from his memorable thought provoking stunts over the last 30 years, starting as a street artist in underground Bristol in the 1990s, up to present day and some of his biggest stunts! Do you remember back in 2018 he released a video showing how he secretly built a shredder into one of his paintings that self-destructed after it was sold for more than £1m? The framed Girl With Balloon, one of the artist’s best known works, was auctioned by Sotheby’s in London. Moments after the piece was sold, the canvas of a girl reaching for a heart-shaped balloon shredded itself.
Quoting Picasso on his Instagram, Banksy wrote: “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge - Picasso.”

Tonight I experienced , I have been meaning to go for a while. An immersive exploration of some well known paintings, that we often share on tours of The . An opportunity to switch off from busyness of London and feel like you are inside the world of the painting. Big art world players such as Vincent Van Gough, Dali, Monet, JMW Turner were brought to life, including our once voted nation’s favourite painting which is featured on the £20 note. Wicked Women in London, one of my favourite tours as I get to share the lives and stories of some bad ass women who have changed history. Nurses, warriors, suffragists and writers who have created such a strong legacy, that we still talk them years after they are gone. Wicked in the modern informal sense - brilliant, wonderful and playfully mischievous, rather than evil. All the women we meet on my 90 min walking tour made a difference, brought about change and fought their own battles. Have you taken a flight on the London Eye? It became part of the London skyline in the year 2000, to celebrate the millenium. It was only meant to be a temporary feature but it made loadsa money, so it was decided to make it permanent!..

It glows pink at night as it's sponsored by Lastminute.com, on a clear day you can see out 25 miles West to Windsor castle.

For proposals, book the cupids cabin, just make sure they will say yes at the top, else it's a looooooooooooong 15 mins back down!

A great photo opportunity to see the river Thames from above, liquid history and see the sprawling metropolis that is our capital city.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is instantly recognisable. The dome a symbol of inclusivity, strength and resilience. Have you visited? Buried inside are military heroes alongside artists, artisans and the architect himself, Sir Christopher Wren. Inside be wowed by the modern art and digital installation, the geometric staircase and see if you can recognise it as a backdrop to many films - most recently Ammonite, staring .winslet.official as Mary Anning, the fossil hunter. Next year in June, it will be the focal point of the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations- 70 years on the throne and a bank holiday to help the nation celebrate!... With breathtaking views across London,the modern skyscrapers leaning out of its way, definitely a destination to head for!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Amy Winehouse. Hundreds of people gathered to remember her. A British soul singer who had a signature sound and style. Here she can be seen with her beehive do, thick eyeliner, heels and Star of David necklace. This life size statue of Amy can be found in Camden Town, in the stables market. Camden was her spiritual home and would often play impromptu gigs at the different pubs and her last gig at Camden Roundhouse. Sadly Amy was plagued with poor mental health and addictions and it’s possible her stratospheric rise to fame contributed to this. She was forever being hounded by the press, who would photograph her sometimes in states that were so sad to witness. Her first album ‘Frank’ (possibly named after her idol Frank Sinatra) earned her the esteemed Ivor Novello award for music. Shortly followed by the ‘back to black’ album which was the UK’s biggest selling album in 2007. Amy made history as the first female artist and the first British musician to win 5 Grammys in one night. This statue was unveiled in 2014 by Dame Barbara Windsor, who knew her and acted as a nan like figure to her. It was unveiled on what would have been her 31st birthday. Amy’s music tracked her thoughts on love and romance, often brutally honest. A life taken too soon, but her music - introspective, timeless and unique, will last beyond her lifetime. A charity set up in her memory helps youngsters with addictions, with music therapy and rehabilitation. RIP Amy, I love your music and will listen to you tonight and hope that you’re at peace now.

Happy birthday Alan Turing! To celebrate, today the £50 note enters circulation, with Alan in ‘pride’ of place. Finally, recognition for the incredible work he achieved in his lifetime. It’s thought that his breaking of the enigma code, using a machine to intercept and decipher German coding, shortened WW2 by up to two years,potentially saving up to 20m lives!!!! Turing’s personal life story makes me sad and angry in equal measure. Prosecuted for being homosexual, charged with gross indecency and chemically castrated. He was given oestrogen injections to neutralise his libido. Possibly one of causes into his death by su***de. Still today conversion therapy is legal around the world, including UK. We are one step closer to equality, but still lots of work to be done. Let’s keep telling the untold stories. Today we get to explore back inside St Paul’s Cathedral - the nation’s favourite building, a place of worship and open to all. This incredible building has been here for a whopping 310 years, has seen blazes, bombs, celebrations and weddings! It’s actually been a place of worship here, high atop Ludgate hill, for over 1400 years. Used as the backdrop to London in films - most recently Mary Poppins Returns, Mission Impossible Fallout, Paddington 2 (can you tell I have kids?) plus countless more. A place we mourn, celebrate and commemorate. It tells the stories of heroes, both old and new. This is the summer to come visit- .london

Did you know that roughly 1 in 5 statues around the Uk are of women?

Of the 900+ Blue plaques around London, only 14% are celebrate women!

The legends we are talking about tonight are the Wicked Women of London, last virtual tour for a few months!

Wicked meaning brilliant and/or wicked meaning evil!...

7 women whose stories are united in that they all stood up for what they believed in, broke the mould and used their true voice.

Noor Inayat Khan is my favourite of the women we talk about. A spy in enemy territory, risking her life daily to supply intelligence during WW2.
