SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO MY DAD
20 Years Anniversary of Victory Over Death
In Loving Memory of Engr David Tanko JP MNSE
Twenty years ago, the world became quiet in a way I had never known before.
On the 5th of May 2006, I received the news that changed my life forever. The news that my father, my hero, my guide, my silent strength, had gone to be with the Lord.
Even after 20 years, the memory still speaks. The pain may have softened, but the love has never faded. The tears may not fall every day, but the silence still carries his name.
My father was not just a man; he was a pillar.
He was a complete gentleman, calm, composed, patient, loving, and full of wisdom. He carried strength without noise, authority without pride, and kindness without conditions.
He was a symbol of unity and love. A father whose presence brought peace, whose words carried direction, and whose life became a foundation for many of us to stand on.
I still remember his pride in me. I still remember how he looked forward to seeing me in my colours during my passing out parade from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria. That moment was going to be a proud one for him, but God had another plan.
For the past 20 years, I have carried his dreams in my heart. I have walked through storms, faced battles, endured pain, and stood against the forces of this world. Many times, I wished he was here to advise me, to encourage me, to smile at me, and to remind me that I could still make it.
But even in his absence, his voice still lives in my spirit.
His life taught me patience.
His memory taught me strength.
His love taught me unity.
His death taught me that we are not victims, but victors.
Today, I do not remember him with sorrow alone. I remember him with gratitude. I celebrate the grace of God upon my life. I celebrate my mother for holding on. I celebrate the legacy of a man whose name still carries honour.
Daddy, your seed has grown. Your name has not disappeared. Your house still stands in love. Today, you have 12 grandchildren, 4 daughters-in-law, and a son-in-law. Your legacy continues to breathe through us.
We miss you deeply.
We honour you proudly.
We celebrate you forever.
After 20 years, I can boldly say that God has been faithful. What was meant to break us became a testimony. What came as pain has become a story of victory.
Daddy, you may have left this world, but you never left our hearts.
Today, we celebrate Engr David Tanko JP MNSE.
A father.
A gentleman.
A man of peace.
A symbol of unity and love.
A legacy that will never die.
To God be the glory. Good things He has done.
PLEASE FRIENDS, CELEBRATE WITH US — 20 YEARS OF VICTORY OVER DEATH.
WE ARE NOT VICTIMS, BUT VICTORS.
