Thinking of where to go on holiday this coming August …

August is a perfect month to travel up into the Indian Himalaya to the remote desert region of Ladakh with its striking desert vistas and enthralling Buddhist culture. In Sri Lanka, August is a good time to enjoy the dry season in the Cultural Triangle or the stunning beaches on the east coast. It can be hot in Tbilisi and the lowlands in Georgia, but the weather is great for hiking in the Caucasus or visiting the mountainous regions. Armenia has a similar climate, making it another good option for an August holiday. Contact a member of our team to begin planning your August getaway.

The glorious ruins of ROMAN AFRICA in Tunisia are amongst the finest in the Mediterranean. Without doubt, the most well-known Roman site in the country is ancient Carthage. Here Dido wept for Aeneas, Hannibal set forth to conquer Rome, and St. Perpetua was tossed by the bulls. ‘Delenda est Carthago’, the elder Cato told the Roman Senate (Carthage must be destroyed), and so it was...

Further afield, in the ancient province of Numidia, you can visit the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site of Dougga (ancient Thugga). Nearby is Bulla Regia with its noted underground villas. To the south, the enormous amphitheatre at El Djem is more complete than the Colosseum in Rome; while in the desert are to be found the stunning honey-coloured remains of Sbeitla; and the Dorsale mountains contain the stunning ruins of Maktar; and the list goes on.

Our suggested Carthage and Roman Africa itinerary includes many of the sites mentioned above, and can be tailored to suit your specific requirements. Contact us or click on the link below for more information and a full itinerary.

Featured destination: Nemrut Dagi (Mount Nemrut), southeastern Turkiye

Located in the mountains overlooking the Euphrates River, Nemrut Dagi is a spectacular tomb-sanctuary and one of Turkiye’s most incredible cultural attractions. Created by Antiochus 1 of Commagene (69 – 34 BC) on a remote mountaintop, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is crowned by an immense tumulus, that is flanked by two terraces lined with huge statues – the heads of which have been dislodged by time and remain where they fell on the mountainside.

Nemrut Dagi features in our suggested 12-day Turkish Odyssey private tour. Contact us or click on the link below for more information and a full itinerary.

Thinking of where to go on holiday this coming October …

October is an exciting time to visit Rajasthan and northern India as the edge of the summer heat will have passed. It is possible to witness several colourful festivals, such as Diwali, celebrated across the country, and Dusshera, held in Kolkata. After the monsoon rains have passed, the skies over the Himalayas are at their clearest. An October holiday is thus perfect for visiting Bhutan, Nepal and Sikkim in North East India. Closer to home, Oman is an ideal destination to consider for the October half-term, as are Jordan and Egypt. Tunisia and Turkiye are two other wonderful destinations for an October holiday.
