What's the reason behind the famous "siesta" in Spain? πŸ€”

-

Essentially, "siesta" started as a break for outdoor workers that needed to shelter during the hottest hours in the day β€” right after lunch.

-

Over time, this became a life-style and many businesses implemented this break from 2 pm to 5 pm wich allowed their employees to have lunch with their families at home.

-

Although traditional siesta has been fading out for a while now, there is still a lot of Spanish people who treat themselves with a short nap.

-

Would you like to nap more often?

How did tapas become a fundamental part of Spanish culture?🍀🍻

According to some myths, a bar in Seville started serving beer or sherry with a saucer placed on top to stop the flies from getting in the drinks.

-

"Tapa" literally means "Lid".

-

They realised they could use the saucer to serve a little portion of ham, olives, potatoes etc. to please their customers.

-

People started coming back more often to this bar. Over time, this practice rapidly spread amongst southern bars ending up in this marvellous eating-style we know nowadays as "going out for tapas".

❀️ We believe in a responsible, and meaningful way of doing tourism.

-

Our mission is to introduce off-the-beaten-path foodie (and cultural) experiences for those who don't want to contribute to mass tourism and discover a city from a different perspective.

-

Supporting local, family-run businesses when travelling is more important than ever. Choosing alternatives to mass tourism will help to keep these traditional businesses alive, so they can continue providing authentic experiences for tourists for many years to come.

-

Our message is; visit places from a locals' perspective and be a non-tourist.
