🇬🇧There is no respectable trip worth to London that does not include the famous Big Ben in Westminster.

🤹🏼‍♂️We were two days away from leaving (or so we thought 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll tell you about it in due time 🤭😅) and we still hadn’t been able to walk through that area. When you go on a city trip with children or a pr***en, you have to go at a different pace and listen to what interests them... although without falling into the simplism (I think) of only going to children’s places.

🎁 So in those hours we had until we got to the birthday gift from Sora and her family, we had to pass in front of the emblematic Big Ben... bright as itself☀️

❗️Did you know that there is a tour to visit Big Ben from the inside? They ask that you be moderately fit since you will have to climb its almost 400 steps during the guide. Our shame is that when I looked at it there were no more places left for any of the days I had scheduled… for the next one 😉

🇪🇸No hay viaje respetable que se precie a Londres en el que no se visite el famoso Big Ben en Westminster.

🤹🏼‍♂️Faltaban dos días para irnos (o eso creíamos 🤦🏻‍♀️ ya lo contaré a su debido momento 🤭😅) y aún no habíamos podido pasear por esa zona. Cuando sales de viaje por ciudad con niños o un preadolescente, hay que ir a otro ritmo y escuchar lo que les interesa… aunque sin caer en el simplismo (creo yo) de solo ir a lugares infantiles.

🎁 Así que no había cuadrado, pero en esas horas que teníamos hasta llegar al regalo de cumpleaños de Sora y su familia, cuadró pasar enfrente del emblemático Big Ben… brillante como él solo ☀️

❗️¿Sabías que hay un tour para visitar el Big Ben desde dentro? Piden que estés medianamente en forma ya que tendrás que subir durante la guía sus casi 400 escalones. Nuestra pena es que cuando lo miré ya no quedaban plazas para ningún día de los que tenía programados… para la siguiente 😉

🇬🇧After finishing the Sherlock Holmes tour we arrived at Embankment gardens almost without realizing it.

🎠We walked along the edge of the River Thames and passed the bridge that leads to Southbank where the atmosphere was even more lively and fun.

🎡We pass under the London Eye and continue our walk along the river to Wedmister.

☀️ This was one of the first days of spring in London and the parks, walks and streets had been invaded by sun-hungry people.

🇪🇸Tras acabar el tour de Sherlock Holmes llegamos a Embankment gardens casi sin darnos cuenta.

🎠Paseamos por el borde del río Támesis y pasamos el puente que lleva a Southbank donde el ambiente era aún más animado y divertido.

🎡Pasamos por debajo del London Eye y seguimos nuestro paseo bordeando el río hasta Wedmister.

☀️Este era uno de los primeros días de primavera en Londres y los parques, paseos y calles habían sido invadidos por personas ávidas de sol.

🇬🇧The visit to central London, following in the footsteps of the acclaimed protagonist of mystery and investigation novels Sherlock Holmes, was simply wonderful. We were lucky enough to have a quiet group with some other children, who coincidentally paid more attention to the details about Harry Potter than to almost the entire tour 😅

👮‍♂️Ben shared curious details about movies, emblematic places in the city such as the London library or how the Scotland Yard building is currently a hotel.

🕵️‍♂️Please note that London with a local offers guided tours in English. We understood everything perfectly: historical details in which the novels were set, places in the city where some plots and curiosities of the different series and movies are based.

🔎Two hours or so through places that, being just a few meters from Piccadilly Circus or Trafalgar Square, maintained their peaceful and inexorable passage of time and modernity.

🇪🇸La visita ral centro de Londres, siguiendo los pasos que el aclamado protagonista de novelas de misterio e investigación Sherlock Holmes, fue simplemente maravillosa. Nos tocó en suerte un grupo tranquilo con algunos niños más, que casualmente prestaron más atención a los detalles sobre Harry Potter que a casi todo el tour 😅

👮‍♂️ Ben nos compartió detalles curiosos de películas, de lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad como la biblioteca de Londres o como el edificio de Scotland Yard es actualmente un hotel.

🕵️‍♂️Tengan en cuenta de que London with a local hace visitas guiadas en inglés. Nosotros lo entendimos todo perfectamente: detalles históricos en los que las novelas fueron ambientadas, lugares de la ciudad donde se basan algunas tramas y curiosidades de las diferentes series y películas.

🔎Dos horas y pico por lugares que estando a tan solo unos metros de Piccadilly Circus o Trafalgar Square mantenían su apacible e inexorable paso del tiempo y a la modernidad.

🇬🇧And again another activity in central London... on Saturday morning we participated in a tour about Sherlock Holmes, masterfully guided by Ben from London with a Local.

📕 The Three Wise Men left Noah a Sherlock Holmes’ book that took him a few days to read, but seconds to become fascinated with the idea of a more elegant time, with knights who had fought in remote countries, solving mysteries and the power of deduction.

🔎 So booking this Sherlock Holmes tour was an obvious choice, with the added encouragement that it was free (although we know that few things are free in this life 🤷🏻‍♀️😉).

🕵️‍♂️ The meeting place was Piccadilly Circus and then we headed to the Royal Society building. We finished at the Sherlock Holmes pub.

🇪🇸Y de nuevo otra actividad en el centro de Londres… la mañana del sábado participamos en un tour sobre Sherlock Holmes, magistralmente guiado por Ben de London with a Local.

📕Los Reyes Magos le dejaron a Noah un libro de Sherlock Holmes que tardó unos días en leérselo, pero segundos en fascinarse con la idea de un tiempo más elegante, con caballeros que habían luchado en países remotos, resolución de misterios y el poder de la deducción.

🔎Así que reservar este tour sobre Sherlock Holmes fue una elección obvia, con el estímulo añadido de que era gratuito (aunque sabemos que pocas cosas son gratis en esta vida 🤷🏻‍♀️😉).

🕵️‍♂️El lugar de encuentro fue Piccadilly Circus y luego nos dirigimos al edificio de la Royal Society. Hasta acabar en el pub de Sherlock Holmes.

🇬🇧With children doing entertaining things in London is extremely easy, so we quickly arrived at the Science Museum.

🪐 Obviously after several hours at the Natural History Museum, the boys were a little exhausted, but returning home was too soon and simply taking a walk through Kensington would have been not very popular for them.

🌎 So we went to the Science Museum and we were in the games area and the solar system explanation area.

☀️It was wonderful to walk at Kensington neighborhood in the afternoon.

🇪🇸Con los niños hacer cosas entretenidas en Londres es extremadamente fácil, por lo que fluyendo llegamos al Museo de la Ciencia.

🪐 Obviamente tras varias horas en el museo de historia Natural, los chicos estaban un poco agotados, pero volvernos a casa resultaba muy pronto y dar simplemente un paseo por Kensington hubiera resultado poco estimulante para ellos.

🌎 Así que fuimos al museo de la ciencia y estuvimos en la zona de juegos y la de explicaciones del sistema solar.

☀️Fue fantástico pasear tranquilamente por el barrio de Kensington por la tarde.

🇬🇧Even though Fábio couldn’t be on this trip, it occurred to him that NoAh should go to a musical... so I looked at the West End billboard and gave him several options to choose from.

🕰️ The lucky one was “Back to the Future” whose NoAh trilogy has watched several times on TV. Since he watched it, he has been especially fascinated by the first one because it was set in the 50s.

🚙 What we didn’t expect is that the musical would be so spectacular and quite faithful to the film’s script. Some good transitions and a very science fiction final twist.

♥️Noah lived every second of the musical and we had a particularly good time… so much so that we had quite a bit of conversation on the way back to Soraya’s house.

🇪🇸Aún cuando Fábio no pudo estar en este viaje, se le ocurrió que NoAh debía ir a un musical… así que busqué en la cartelera del West End y le di varias opciones para que eligiera.

🕰️La afortunada fue “Regreso al Futuro” cuya trilogía NoAh ha visto varias veces en la tele. Desde que la vio le ha fascinado especialmente la primera por ambientarse en los años 50.

🚙Lo que no nos esperábamos es que el musical fuera tan espectacular y bastante fiel al guión de la película. Unas buenas transiciones y un giro final muy de ciencia ficción.

♥️Noah vivió cada segundo del musical y nos lo pasamos especialmente bien… tanto así que tuvimos bastante tema de conversación en el trayecto de vuelta a la casa de Soraya.

🇬🇧And when we left the British Museum we took a walk... and what a coincidence... we arrived at the Lego store... where the kids were able to give free rein to their imagination... along with a few dozen other children.

🧩To enter the store you have to wait in a short line and from the moment you enter the number of replicas of typical tourist elements from England, especially from London, is impressive.

🏗️On the second floor the kids found the different tables with Lego pieces with which many projects were frantically assembled.

⚠️The complicated thing about the store is leaving it... 😅😅.

🇪🇸Y al salir del British Museum dimos un paseo… y qué casualidad… llegamos a la tienda de Lego… donde los chicos pudieron dar rienda suelta a su imaginación… junto con algunas decenas de niños.

🧩Para entrar en la tienda hay que hacer una pequeña cola y desde que entras en ella la cantidad de réplicas de elementos típicos turísticos de Inglaterra, especialmente de Londres es impresionante.

🏗️En la segunda planta los chicos encontraron las diferentes mesas con piezas de Lego con las que frenéticamente se montaban muchos proyectos.

⚠️Lo complicado de la tienda es salir de ella… 😅😅

🇬🇧The British Museum is one of the mandatory cultural stops in the city of London.

♥️Easter’s holidays does not match in dates between Spain and England, so finally that afternoon (Olivia and Víctor’s last day of school) we were able to meet Sora and the children.

🏛️In the museum we traveled through the Roman, Greek and Etruscan past, we took a tour of Egypt... whose rooms are the reflection of that fascination that the West shows for that culture and finally we hurriedly moved to the medieval period.

⚠️The entrance fee is free, but I recommend booking your tickets in advance, of course it’s not because you won’t be able to get through, but because the line for those who have booked in advance is shorter... although the tide of people is incredible.

🇪🇸El Museo británico es una de las paradas culturales obligatorias de la ciudad de Londres.

♥️Las fechas de Semana Santa no coinciden entre España e Inglaterra, así que por fin esa tarde (último día de clases de Olivia y Víctor) pudimos coincidir con Sora y los niños.

🏛️En el museo viajamos por el pasado romano, griego y etrusco, dimos una vuelta por Egipto… cuyas salas son el reflejo de esa fascinación que occidente muestra por esa cultura y finalmente a toda prisa nos trasladamos a la etapa medieval.

⚠️La entrada es gratuita, pero les recomiendo reservar las entradas con antelación, desde luego no es porque no vayan a poder pasar, sino porque la cola de aquellos que han reservado anticipadamente es más corta… aunque la marea de gente es increíble.
