Ushaw x Imprint Artist in Residence 2026 | Tamsin Loxley

Two artists. One extraordinary site.

This June, we continue our collaboration with Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens ✨

Tamsin Loxley (2025 Graduate Award winner) and Mohammad Barrangi .barrangi have been invited to respond to Ushaw’s remarkable architecture, gardens and historic collection.

Each will create a new work for the Ushaw Editions programme - with one entering the permanent collection.

→ Exhibition to follow in Spring 2027

Tamsin Loxley’s practice sits in direct dialogue with the land.

Her work as an artist sits alongside a regenerative farming practice, where agroecology, seasonal change and increasing wilderness actively shape her thinking.

Her work, in turn, becomes a way of understanding that landscape more deeply and considers soil, trees and land as holders of memory.
What we do to them now becomes part of what they carry forward.
So where does her practice end and the other begin?

Is this a symbiotic relationship - and can it change the way we care for the land?

Tamsin will be situating her practice in this instance in the ex-industrial rural setting of the magnificent Ushaw estate.

This International Women’s Day we celebrate our very special collaboration with Women in Print 💫

Women in Print is a creative research project curated by boundary pushing artists Tracy Hill & Magda Stawarska which explores the significance of contemporary print.

Based at the incredible Art Lab Contemporary Print Studio women artists are given the opportunity to explore how print can enhance or inform their creative practice. It has welcomed an incredible list of groundbreaking artists including Jenny Steele , Dr Heather Mullender-Ross ( ), Emma Speed , Rebecca Chesney , Heather Peak and Turner Prize winners Lubaina Himid & Helen Cammock 💫

Since 2024 Women in Print have generously awarded a WCPF exhibitor a residency opportunity to use the incredible resources and intricate knowledge of the studio and its leaders to develop their practice and career opportunities.

Sana Obaid ( ) was the first recipient of this coveted opportunity and spent time in the studio early last year. Her work was exhibited as part of the Women in Print Editions which showed for its inaugural exhibition at WCPF where they also awarded the 2025 prize to

Over the passed two years Women in Print artists have shared their significant experience and celebrated expertise within our talks programme. In 2024 a panel of founding Women in Print artists shared the foundations and objectives of the remit with our Co-Founder & Creative Director, to a full house!

At our recent 10th edition artists Magda Stawarska & Lubaina Himid generously closed our talks programme with a fascinating and insightful discussion on the history of print and practice with WCPF panelist and friend of the Fair, wrote 💫

Thank you to all our friends and colleagues ! WCPF continues to champion women artists today & everyday!

Happy Lunar New Year 🧧 🐎

Year of the Fire Horse | This year is celebrated for its dynamic energy, symbolizing passion, change, and transformation. Horses represent strength, freedom, and spirited perseverance, and the element of fire magnifies these qualities, igniting their brilliance to new heights 💫

Possibly one of the most satisfying process videos we have had the delight to share with you!

Thank you .urquia for this wonderful insight to the intricate & layered processes that go into making the incredible work shown at WCPF 💫💫

Alba Urquia (Barcelona, 1997) graduated in MA Print from in 2023 and received her BA from in 2019. She attended Tamarind’s Summer Workshop in 2025 to consolidate her expertise in stone lithography. Her work explores matters related to existentialism and identity, the absurd, and the human condition. Philosophers such as Albert Camus or Sartre, and writers like Clarice Lispector have a great influence on her work. Urquia’s work uses a strong drawing element and photographic portraiture to articulate narratives that talk of universal matters. Urquia has exhibited at Maximillian Wölfgang Gallery, ASC Gallery, Southwark Park Galleries, and Fen Ditton Gallery among others. She has previously shown work at WCPF in 2021, 2022, 2023 &’2025. Her installation “A face that toils so close to stones...is already stone itself” was featured in the in 2024.

Yesterday our co-founder & Creative Director, Lizzie Glendinning, attended a fascinating talk by celebrated artist, prolific printmaker, & WCPF exhibitor, Prof. Paul Coldwell.

‘The Studio as a Site of Play; the World in Miniature’ accompanied the current exhibition ‘Miniature Worlds: Little Landscapes from Thomas Bewick to Beatrix Potter
Miniature Worlds’ which explores the intricate beauty of small-scale landscapes across three centuries of British art until 28 Feb

Referencing key influences & exhibitions through his artistic career, Paul highlighted his works included in the exhibition and how his cross-process practice, from print to sculpture, and his intricate use of his materials can be drawn from innovators such as Bewick, to amplify the layered storytelling in his work.

We’d highly recommend heading to this wonderful exhibition if you are in or around Newcastle or the North East this month!

Did someone say 2016? …
Only the first of what would (unknowingly) become the annual, and worlds leading art fair for contemporary print!

What a team and what a journey! Navigating the misconceptions of what print is - and our own misconceptions - SO many people in the actual art industry also didn’t have a clue - and also the misconceptions of Woolwich as destination which we’ve spent a decade marketing and welcome thousands of people each year to the historic Royal Arsenal!

We arrived at a time when very little people were aware of the incredible riverside location of the Arsenal, as a one off event as part of our gallery (now ) programme. We were the first cultural and visual arts initiative on site providing an enhanced offering for the developing residential projects - of whom the main developer told us last year we are of ‘no cultural value’ to the site! … more on that later!

Inspired by the Venice Biennale and their own use of their Arsenale we also wanted to provide a platform for independent artists (who might never be able to show at an art fair without gallery representation) alongside leading international artists, specialist galleries and all corners of the art world.

Thank you to those that believed in us a decade ago - and here’s to the next! 💫💫
