Sometimes, even when you're travelling for yourself, you have to switch straight back into travel designer mode… 🌏

After six hours waiting at the airport, our flight home was cancelled and we were rebooked by BA for two days later, travelling via Miami. Rather than accept this, I knew exactly what to ask for and managed to get us onto a flight the following day via Charlotte instead.

But there was another important detail that could easily have been missed. As we were transiting through the USA, we needed an ESTA, something BA hadn't mentioned. I knew this from experience, but many travellers wouldn't. We met a family who had booked their holiday independently and were suddenly left to navigate everything themselves. Luckily, I was able to flag the ESTA requirement and they managed to get theirs approved in time, although ESTA applications can take up to 72 hours✈️

It's moments like this that work as reminders as to why booking with a personal travel designer matters, someone to organise your holiday with care. When the unexpected happens, you're not left trying to navigate airlines, paperwork and alternative arrangements on your own💛

One of the most important parts of my job is knowing that the right room, suite or villa can completely change a holiday🥂

When I recently visited, I spent time with the General Manager exploring the different accommodation options and understanding which would suit different clients best.

For a more contemporary luxury feel, I’d focus on the newly renovated Oasis, Coastline Deluxe Suites and Ocean Point, whilst the Manor and Estate Collections are perfect for those who love the charm and character of a traditional Caribbean villa. The Manor Collection and new Ocean Point villas also come with a dedicated personal host team🌟

I personally prefer the term personal host rather than butler, and the service is exceptional. With direct WhatsApp access throughout your stay, everything feels effortless and personal.

Building genuine relationships with General Managers and hotel teams is so important to me. It means I can go beyond what you see online, understand the nuances of each property and, when my clients arrive, have trusted relationships behind their stay. That connection allows me to provide a more elevated, seamless and personal level of service🐚

This is what being a luxury travel designer is about for me: knowing the hotels, knowing the people and ultimately knowing which experience is right for you💛

A little slice of St Lucia at Windjammer Landing🇱🇨

This summer, my husband, our 11-year-old son Theo and I spent a week at Windjammer Landing, and what a lovely escape it was.

Located close to Rodney Bay, Windjammer has a beautiful beach, a great choice of pools, water activities and a selection of restaurants, making it a fantastic option for families. I particularly loved the variety of accommodation, from traditional Caribbean-style villas with plenty of space to more contemporary options such as the Oasis, Coastline Deluxe Suites and Ocean Point🌟

One of our favourite days was heading out on a catamaran cruise, where we snorkelled in crystal-clear waters, visited waterfalls and enjoyed the island's famous mud baths. Experiencing St Lucia from the water and seeing those incredible Piton landscapes was definitely a highlight🌄

Theo was never short of something to do either. Between swimming in the pools, enjoying the beach and getting involved with the resort's water sports and activities, he was kept happily entertained throughout our stay. Allowing us the perfect balance of family time and relaxation.

Travelling off-season gave us some fantastic value, and whilst we had the occasional tropical shower, the warmth, lush scenery and quieter atmosphere made it a wonderful time to experience the island.

As always, I love experiencing these properties myself so I can give my clients honest, first-hand advice on exactly which accommodation, experiences and destinations I would recommend for them✨

St Lucia – A well-deserved family holiday at Windjammer Landing. St Lucia is one of my favourite Caribbean islands, renowned for its spacious hillside villas, beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for families. I stayed in Sugar Beach last year and loved it!🌄

Ischia – I'll be exploring this beautiful Italian island and visiting a selection of luxury properties, discovering why it's becoming such a sought-after alternative to the Amalfi Coast🍋

Some holidays are wonderful… and then there are the ones your family talks about forever☃️

For me, Lapland will always be one of those truly magical places. Seeing my son Theo meet Santa Claus, racing through snow-covered forests on a snowmobile, experiencing the excitement of a husky sled ride and watching his face light up with every new adventure are memories I'll treasure for a lifetime✨

A trip to Lapland is so much more than meeting Santa. It's about stepping into a real-life winter wonderland, where families can enjoy reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobiling, husky safaris, festive activities and cosy evenings beneath star-filled skies. It's one of those rare holidays that captivates every generation, from grandparents to little ones🤍
