โ๏ธ Big changes for UK travellers heading to Europe this year!
The EUโs new Entry/Exit System (EES) is rolling out, replacing passport stamps with a digital system for non-EU visitors โ including Brits.
Hereโs what you need to know ๐
๐น Whatโs changing?
No more passport stamping. Your entry/exit will be recorded digitally using fingerprints and facial scans.
๐น Who does it affect?
Non-EU travellers staying up to 90 days in any 180-day period. (Kids under 12 wonโt need fingerprints.)
๐น Where does it apply?
Across most Schengen countries โ including France, Spain, Italy, Germany and more.
โ ๏ธ Ireland & Cyprus will still stamp passports.
๐น How will it work?
On your first trip, youโll register at a self-service kiosk at the airport, port, or even before leaving the UK (Dover, Eurotunnel, St Pancras).
๐น Important to know
โณ Some countries may not be fully ready yet
โ ๏ธ Delays and longer queues are possible at borders
๐ง Rollout is uneven across Europe
๐น Extra update
The separate ETIAS travel authorisation system is now unlikely to launch before the end of the year.
๐ If youโre travelling soon, allow extra time and be prepared for new checks.
