We always enjoy delivering our annual Open House Festival tours.

This year we were showing guests “Victoria - Hidden in Plain Sight” with some interesting little visited bits of Victoria.

This is an opportunity for recently graduated guides to practice their skills out on the streets of Westminster and it was great to have so many of them leading tours today.

In total throughout the day we had over 280 guests on our Open City tours.

Huge thanks to the amazing team who organised the day and made it run so smoothly. And thanks to Westminster Libraries and Archives for providing refreshments at the end of the tour and a bonus tour of the archives!

Saturday 12th September, starting at 10.00 departing every 30 minutes, last walk leaves at 15:00.

Victoria - Hidden in Plain Site

“All the secrets of the world worth knowing are hiding in plain sight”, the City of Westminster Tour Guides are offering a new walk around the quieter streets of Victoria, we will unveil some of these Hidden in Plain Sight secrets.

This one-mile walk takes you beyond the well-trodden tourist routes to discover the rich history, striking architecture, and hidden stories of Victoria’s quieter streets, our guides will unveil the secrets that remain unseen.

Starting Cardinal Place, Victoria.

Next stop Queen’s Park!

We’ve been exploring the whole of the borough of Westminster in this month’s Inside Out Festival, including the parts off the tourist trail but beloved by locals.

Thanks to excellent guide Mary Enright for her tour of Queen’s Park, at the very north of the borough.

It’s been a busy start to August and the Inside Out Festival.

We are delighted to be running 25 free tours made possible by support. Showcasing the whole of the borough on a huge range of topics.

Had a lovely time today at the Fitzrovia Fete, a street festival (and part of Inside Out) organised around the Fitzrovia Community Centre.

There was music, dance groups, and comedians, a raffle, tombola, and stands of local community services and organisations (the local library, All Souls Church and School, the Cartoon Museum, etc.).

The Association ran a free badge-making activity and talks to people about the CWGLA, our Inside Out Walks, and other upcoming walks (Open House, LLGD, and Black History Month walks). A few of our members stopped by!
