Eleanor Roosevelt said there were only 2 hotels outside the US that she`d patronize. One is the George V Paris and the other is the Adelphi Liverpool.

I stayed at the George V which is still wonderful. I was assigned a male valet who looked after me (brilliantly) during my stay.

Sadly when I booked into the Adelphi it was already on the skids. I was there doing research for my John Lennon biography `The Other Side of Lennon` by Sandra Shevey. www.sandrasheveybooks.wordpress.com Or maybe this is the way it always was and is part of its charm. It was `louche`. I can recall in the morning getting into the lift (on the way to breakfast) and seeing a man finishing dressing ie putting on his tie, shoving his shirt tails in his trousers)

I guess Roosevelt mentioned the Adelphi in Liverpool because of the US Army Base during WWII on outskirts Liverpool. (Only discovered this recently) Guess lots of Liverpool girls were taken to the Adelphi by American military officers. Since discovering wonder if John and George, whose parentage is somewhat moot) were actually sired by high ranking American military personnel?

Al Gore played this song at this wedding, `All You Need is Love`. I mention Gore in my biog of John `The Other Side of Lennon` by Sandra Shevey as letting us all down when he refused to fight for the election he had won. Interviewed John 1972 for 12 hrs and found him`fearless`. When people ask me what was he like? This is what I say. He was fearless.

The only thing I have recently discovered is that while all 4 played the roles of the Scouse scruffs in fact even those who lived in council flats were middle class. Lennon himself did not have a Scouse accent and put it on to the chagrin and annoyance of his Aunt Mimi Smith.

Ringo Starr originally drove a baby blue vintage car that defined him as counter culture, innovative.

Harrison wore bo-ho clothes which grated against the status quo.

And McCartney, well Paul is the Oxbridge student with an IQ of 220 masquerading as a pop star. LOL!

Bigger than Einstein.

The BEATLES!!!

Apparently John discussed the 12 hr interview with an American female journalist with alter-ego Peter Shotton cause in Shotton`s book he refers to it. `She was not Bardot`, says John, `but I wonder whether she really liked me?`

In the course of the interview which you can read if you purchase the book ([email protected]) John in a moment of `summing up` is candid about his insecurities. `If I didn`t get what I wanted from a girl, I`d smack her across the face and take it`. Course like most I was aghast and said so. `John, I cannot imagine you ever having to resort to violence to get what you want. Women fall at your feet. You can have anyone`.

Because this was worth reporting to Pete I guess the boost was good for John`s ego. I do recall he brought out my maternal instincts as is evident from what I say about him in the book.

John was dead when I wrote `The Other Side of Lennon` by Sandra Shevey. Shotton was alive in 1990. He had written his account in 1983 and was interviewed by me for my book.

Think it`s great we can all impact upon each other and that impact can be good or bad. When one worships someone as I do Lennon it is particularly nice to reflect upon something inadvertent that I did and that caused him extreme pleasure.

I know I never heard about it from Ono.

Did a talk St. Martin`s ref library London in the 1990s on `Hitchcock and Mastication`. The title does not simply refer to eating and digestion. It primarily refers to the other side of mastication. Lots of teeth images in Hitchcock films..mouths (oral)....gums...chewing..eating..chomping.

You can`t put it on. Hitchcock had a VERY interesting psyche and lucky for us he was a big fat man with low self-esteem. Or else most of all of this would have been lavished on some one person instead of an universe.
