Surrounded by vineyards in the Languedoc countryside, Le Domaine de Servian has the best of both worlds: plenty of space and privacy, but a French village within walking distance.

Set within 15 hectares of private vineyards, the house has open countryside views, Mediterranean gardens and a 10m private pool with a shallow ‘plage’ entry. Inside, there are four bedrooms, air-conditioning throughout and a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living space opening onto the garden.

A dedicated walking and cycle path takes you into Servian in around 15 minutes for bakeries, restaurants, a café-bar and local markets. Pézenas and Béziers are both close enough for a day out, while the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are around 30 minutes away.

South of the Loire Valley, between Tours and Poitiers, the landscape opens into fields, woodland and small villages, with Richelieu, the region’s châteaux and plenty of wine domaines all within exploring distance.

Le Manoir Richemont has 14 hectares of that countryside entirely to itself. The traditional six-bedroom manor is joined by a separate garden house with its own kitchen and living space – particularly useful when twelve people are sharing a holiday but don’t necessarily want to share every waking moment.

Beyond the house, there’s woodland to wander through, a 12-metre private pool, boules, table tennis and enough lawn for children to properly disappear into. Richelieu is 15 minutes away for cafés, restaurants and supplies, while the nearest bakery is just 4km down the road.
