Japan is having a real 'moment' and with demand up 70% year on year, if you want to go, it is definitely one to book well in advance.

Japan is a fascinating destination that seamlessly weaves together its ancient history and cutting-edge modernity. It is a nation of contrasts, where efficiency meets serenity, offering visitors a unique blend of cultural, natural, and technological experiences.

It is a year round destination but personally I think autumn offers the best balance and value as the forests turn vivid shades of red and gold and the crowds are much less than in in the traditional cherry blossom season in spring.

For first time visitors, the classic itinerary would take you from the Neon Streets of Tokyo to the Island Shores of Okinawa. You can visit Japan’s best spots, blending city life, culture, and beach time. Start in Tokyo’s fast-paced streets, then ride the bullet train to Kyoto for temples and tradition. Continue to Osaka for amazing food and a lively vibe before flying to Okinawa to relax by the sea. With smooth transfers and comfortable stays throughout, it’s an easy, well-balanced way to experience Japan from start to finish.

Following on from my post earlier this week, I wanted to share one of my favourite ways to experience Greece: Island hopping around the Cyclades offering you a string of whitewashed villages, turquoise bays and long, lazy evenings that still feel wonderfully authentic.

A sample route I love starts with 1–2 nights in Athens, for the Acropolis and a relaxed dinner with Parthenon views. Then hop to Mykonos for 3–4 nights: think chic beach clubs, sunset cocktails and pretty alleys to wander in the early evening.

From there, slow the pace on Paros or Naxos for another 3–4 nights. These islands are perfect for charming villages, quieter beaches, local tavernas and perhaps a wine tasting or coastal hike.

Finally, finish with 2–3 nights in Santorini for those iconic caldera views, a sunset catamaran cruise and a memorable farewell dinner perched above the sea.

Planned well, this is seamless: timed ferries, private transfers, handpicked hotels and the right balance of buzz and calm. You can simply wake up somewhere beautiful, with all the logistics taken care of.

Greece has recently announced that it is scrapping biometric checks at immigration in relation to the new Entry/Exit System (EES) for British visitors. In simple terms: a smoother, faster arrival experience and who doesn't want that!
