If you're planning a trip to Australia, one of the biggest decisions is surprisingly simple:

Do you fly straight through or break the journey?

For many of our clients (especially over 50), the answer isn’t obvious.

A stopover can:
– Make the journey far more comfortable
– Give you time to adjust
– Turn a long-haul into a more enjoyable experience

But it can also add complexity if it’s not planned properly.

We’ve put together a clear, practical guide to help you decide what actually makes sense for your trip:

For many people, flying to Australia is a big trip.

And increasingly, travellers over 50 are choosing business class - not as a luxury, but because it makes the journey so much easier.

✔️ Better sleep
✔️ Less jet lag
✔️ Arriving ready to enjoy the trip

What surprises most people is that business class doesn’t always cost what they expect, especially if you know where to look (or who to ask!).

We’ve put together a simple guide explaining how it works, including stopover options and what to watch out for.

Ever wondered why the person next to you paid half the price for the same business class seat?

It’s not luck, it’s strategy! In 2026, airlines are getting smarter with pricing (and even introducing stripped-back 'basic business' fares to attract cost-conscious travellers).

That means chasing 'crazy cheap deals' isn’t the answer anymore and the real savings come from knowing how the system works

We’ve broken it all down in our latest guide: https://www.skyclub.com/blog/what-are-the-smartest-ways-to-reduce-business-class-costs-in-2026-without-chasing-unrealistic-deals

When should you book business class flights to get the best price?

It’s one of the most common travel questions and in 2026, the answer is changing. Traditional advice like 'book as early as possible' doesn’t always hold up anymore. Instead, pricing is becoming more dynamic, and the best deals often depend on timing, flexibility and demand patterns.

Here’s what travellers need to know:
✔️ Booking too late can mean sharp price increases
✔️ Booking too early doesn’t always guarantee the best deal
✔️ The 'sweet spot' is narrower than it used to be

The key is understanding when that window opens and acting quickly when it does.

Most travellers assume First Class is simply about paying more for a better seat.

But in reality, the biggest difference comes before you even board.

The right expertise can mean:
• Choosing the best aircraft, not just the airline
• Avoiding inconsistent cabin products
• Structuring fares and routes more intelligently
• Getting better value - not just a lower price

Because premium travel isn’t just about luxury anymore… it’s about insight.

Is business class worth it on long-haul flights in 2026?

The answer isn’t as simple as 'yes' or 'no'. For shorter flights, it’s often not worth the price. But on long-haul journeys? It can completely transform your trip, from how you sleep to how you feel when you land.

Think: Lie-flat beds, Restaurant-quality meals, Stress-free airport experience

The key is knowing when to invest and when to save.

Qantas Project Sunrise: What UK travellers need to know

Qantas has officially confirmed plans for non-stop London to Sydney flights, one of the biggest shifts in long-haul travel in decades. We're sharing a preview of Qantas’ new A350 onboard experience.

But before you get too excited, here’s the reality:
- Flights are not on sale yet
- Launch timing is expected in 2027 (not fixed)
- Initial demand (especially in first and business class) will be extremely high

The flight itself? Around 20–22 hours non-stop, making it the longest commercial route in the world.

For anyone travelling to Australia in the next year or two, waiting simply isn’t practical.

The good news:
There are still excellent business and first class fares available right now across established routes often with better availability and flexibility.

At SkyClub, we’re already tracking Project Sunrise closely.
When it becomes bookable, we’ll be ready.

Until then, we’ll make sure you’re flying to Australia the right way.
