One of the reasons we do research trips before launching an Escape is so we can make questionable decisions on your behalf.

Like staying at a campsite that had a sign warning us that lions roam through at night.

Needless to say, this one didn’t make the final Namibia itinerary. 😂

The full story lands on Wednesday. Link in bio to subscribe to our “no more boring emails” list.

The thing about Namibia is that photos don’t do it justice. Videos don’t either. You just have to go. 🇳🇦

A random day in Namibia. Let us take you behind the curtain. 🇳🇦

5am. Alarm goes off. You said you were a morning person when you booked this trip. You were lying.
But the desert air hits you the moment you step outside and suddenly you believe in yourself again.

The dunes don’t climb themselves. So up you go. Legs burning, lungs protesting, having a full internal argument about your fitness levels. You reach the top anyway. You take the photo. You pretend it was easy. Nobody believes you.

Back on the road. Windows down, playlist on. Namibia is home to an estimated 2.5 million animals and at least three of them are going to make you grab someone’s arm and point like a child today. Zero shame in that.

Then there’s just road. Miles and miles of absolutely nobody. No notifications. No traffic. No one asking anything of you. Just big open Namibia doing its thing while your nervous system finally remembers how to relax.

Lodge. Cold drink. You don’t know how you got to this chair but you’re not leaving it. The sun starts doing something ridiculous to the sky and the whole group just goes quiet. Which honestly says everything.

That’s a Tuesday in Namibia.

Wake up tomorrow and do it all again. 😅

Nobody comes to Namibia expecting to end up on a quad bike, screaming into the desert at full speed. 🏜️ And yet here we are.

Swakopmund is one of those towns that sneaks up on you. Sits right between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean, like it couldn’t decide which was cooler and just said yes to both. Quad biking through the dunes here is the kind of activity that ends with sand in places you didn’t know sand could reach and a grin you can’t shake for the rest of the day.

On our 12 day Namibia trip, this is one of the stops. 4 spots left. August 1st is the cutoff.

Well… we guess it’s finally time to reveal the destination we’ve been teasing you all about 👀

A lot of you guessed correctly and yes… we are officially heading to Borneo 🌴🐒 Honestly, this has been a destination we’ve wanted to host for a long time.

Ancient rainforest, jungle lodges, wildlife, rivers, hikes, islands, boat adventures and a whole lot of exploring in between.

Borneo is home to one of the oldest rainforests in the world, estimated to be around 140 million years old, and wildlife including orangutans, pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys and more.

The itinerary is still in the works, but trust us… this one is going to be good 😌

So, who’s joining us in Borneo? 🌍

Meet the Damara. One of the oldest tribes in Namibia 🇳🇦 and honestly one of the most fascinating encounters on our trip.

Alongside the San Bushmen, the Damara are considered among the very first people to have called this land home. Their culture, a blend of hunter-gatherer traditions, herding, metalwork and medicinal knowledge, is unlike anything else in Africa.

What makes visiting them so special is that it’s not a performance. At the Damara Living Museum near Twyfelfontein, the community shares their traditions on their own terms. Fire-making, leather tanning, traditional games, song and dance, all of it kept alive by the people who carry it.

Small population. Enormous history.

This is one of the stops our Namibia escapees will experience firsthand. And trust us, it stays with you.
