We recently hosted the travel agents of Birmingham and surrounding areas at our new-style training at The Belfry.
We welcomed 18 local travel agents with the purpose of providing a deeper understanding of the destination and its products, enabling them to confidently recommend and sell the islands to customers at the point of enquiry and booking. The informal dinner setting created an opportunity for direct engagement between travel agents on the frontline and supplier partners, allowing agents to gain valuable product knowledge, ask questions, and better understand the experiences available to their customers.
Over dinner, our partners also undertook a presentation to the room, thank you to the Turks and Caicos Hotel Association, Waterloo Collection, The Strand, The Hartling Group, and Royal Turks & Caicos Golf Club.
In addition to the training and networking elements, we also held an interview with former Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Hon. Ewing, and British Olympic Field Hockey Player Calum Giles OLY, who represented Team GB at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Having an interview with two such successful and inspirational people helped our travel agent guests to get beneath the surface of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Hon. Ewing gave very personal and unique insights into the country’s culture, history, people, and way of life, going beyond the usual tourist attractions. The questions were supplied by the travel agents in the room, making the conversation especially relevant to the interests and experiences of travellers. Stacy Cox
