21/07/2025
Remember, remember the 12th October 2025.
There's now a date for the beginning of the roll out of the new European Entry System (EES) for all UK nationals entering the EU.
What do we know:
π It begins from the 12th October 2025, but the airport you fly to may not have implemented EES until April 2026
Translation: we don't have specific dates by airport.
π You won't need an ETIAS to enter the EU until at least October 2026, six months after EES is fully implemented.
Translation: you can still just turn up providing your passport is no more than 9 years and 6 months old on your day of return.
π At the EU border, EES means UK nationals will have a photo taken and fingerprints, but no longer need a stamp
Translation: there may be queues when you arrive, and pictures of them in our media after which it will settle down because no airport wants to be known for 2 hour queue.
What can you do about it?
βοΈ Travel for longer breaks to the EU during the changeover to make the Airport experience worth it.
π Travel by Eurostar where you enter the EU before leaving St. Pancras and walk out straight into Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam on arrival.
π Smile for your EES Photos.
