Greenland's west coast is home to a mesmerising array of natural wonders and colourful towns steeped in rich cultural heritage – and you can experience its highlights on an epic summer adventure combining stays in Nuuk, Ilulissat and Ilimanaq 🇬🇱

After a night in Copenhagen, you'll fly out to Nuuk – one of the world's smallest and most remote capital cities, spread along a rocky outcrop at the entrance to one of the world's largest fjord systems.

Then, you'll head north to Ilulissat, 300 kilometres inside the Arctic Circle. Here, you'll hike to the ancient Inuit settlement of Sermermiut, go whale watching and weave among colossal icebergs on the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord.

Finally, you'll sail south for an unforgettable stay at Ilimanaq Lodge – a collection of eco-friendly, timber-clad bungalows in a small settlement on the shore of Disko Bay.

All in all, it's a thoroughly captivating and awe-inspiring introduction to one of the most remarkable regions on Earth.

Every Iceland trip should include at least one visit to a geothermal lagoon. In fact, bathing is such an integral Icelandic tradition that it has been inscribed on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage 🇮🇸

There are dozens of them dotted all around the country, ranging from sleek, modern spa complexes to free-to-use natural hot springs.

Not only does soaking in steaming, mineral-rich water feel fantastic; it also brings with it a wealth of health benefits.

While the Blue Lagoon has long been Iceland's most renowned geothermal spa, there's no shortage of superb alternatives to choose from, including the likes of Sky Lagoon (just outside of Reykjavik), Forest Lagoon (near Akureyri) and the recently opened Laugaras Lagoon (in the Golden Circle region).

Each one offers a slightly different take on Icelandic bathing culture, often featuring the likes of saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge pools and swim-up bars in addition to the main geothermal lagoons.

And, you can easily combine several geothermal spa experiences in a single trip.

Spring is upon us, and it's a time of dramatic transformation and renewal throughout Scandinavia and the Nordics.

As winter's icy grip slowly loosens, the snow cover gradually disappears at lower altitudes and frozen lakes begin to thaw. Before long, wildflowers will begin to bloom, waterfalls will be at their most powerful, and migratory species such as puffins will make their long awaited return.

Whether you're tempted by a coastal cruise or an epic road trip, it's a wonderful time of year to visit the Nordics, with bountiful opportunities for wildlife viewing, comfortable temperatures and extended daylight hours for all manner of outdoor adventures, and considerably fewer crowds than in the busier summer months.

From culture-rich cities and idyllic archipelagos to untamed wilderness landscapes and cutting-edge design hotels, Sweden is a land of extraordinary contrasts 🇸🇪

Nowhere is this more evident than in the far north, where the Northern Lights dance above snow-cloaked landscapes for around half of the year, while the Midnight Sun shines majestically throughout the summer months.

In Sweden's towns and cities, meanwhile, you'll find world-class cultural attractions, architectural masterpieces and culinary delights in abundance.

As the nights grow brighter and the hours of true darkness gradually diminish, the Northern Lights season is drawing towards a conclusion in the northern reaches of Scandinavia and the Nordics.

However, March and early April are often excellent for aurora sightings, particularly in the weeks around the spring equinox, which is associated with elevated levels of geomagnetic activity.

It's still possible to see the Northern Lights in the first week of April in places such as Tromsø and the Lofoten islands, while in places that lie south of the Arctic Circle, including Iceland, the Northern Lights season runs a little longer, with sightings possible until later in the month.

In May, June and July, although the Northern Lights are still technically 'active', they cannot be seen as the nights are too bright. Then, from the middle of August, the nights begin to darken and the first flickers of the aurora become visible once more.

Whether you're considering a last minute escape or you're looking ahead to the next aurora season, we offer an extensive range of tailor-made adventures to some of the very best Northern Lights destinations in the world.

Fjords are among the world's most mesmerising natural wonders – deep, narrow inlets of the sea framed by sheer cliffs and soaring mountains, carved by immense glacial forces during past ice ages.

There are more than 1,000 of them along the entire length of the Norwegian coast, from the far south all the way up to the far north, deep within the Arctic Circle.

Many of the most spectacular fjords are found in Western Norway, within striking distance of the picturesque cities of Bergen and Ålesund – both of which serve as excellent bases for exploring the region.

With so many to choose from, narrowing down exactly which fjords to prioritise, and whether to explore them on a guided tour, an independent self-drive or a multi-day coastal cruise, presents quite the challenge.

So, to point you in the right direction, we've put together this comprehensive guide showcasing 10 of Norway's most majestic fjords, along with recommended itineraries for each: best-served.co.uk/blog/from-the-west-coast-to-the-arctic-circle-our-guide-to-norways-most-majestic-fjords

Denmark is perhaps best known for its laid-back, bike-friendly cities; the likes of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg each brim with innovative restaurants, fabulous museums and galleries, trendy bars and cafes, and an attractive blend of traditional and contemporary architecture.

Venture beyond these major urban centres, however, and you'll find that Denmark has so much more to offer throughout its hundreds of islands – from charming beach towns and immense sand dunes to gently rolling countryside dotted with pristine lakes, grand castles and medieval churches.

It lends itself perfectly to a summer road trip or rail adventure, with pleasant temperatures and long daylight hours offering ideal conditions for hiking, cycling, kayaking and wild swimming.

And, with excellent transport links to both Sweden and Norway, Denmark can also easily slot into a longer trip alongside its Nordic neighbours.
