the lovely Jennette Ritchie (who was incredibly helpful by lending a much-needed hand with the Good Omens tour) came home to find her beloved kitty needed urgent veterinary surgery, if you can spare a little towards his vet costs it would be very much appreciated - even if you can't afford to donate right now, please share the fundrasier so that others can see and spread the word, as every little helps.

Come on, fandom, I know you're good at helping other ineffables in need! Share the love

It’s been a week since I did the The Ineffable Con tour of London, the biggest group so far, and everyone got to their theatre appointments in plenty of time afterwards too 😅

I’ve already set the date for tour for WEDNESDAY the 19th August, at 10:30am, so get it in your calendars now if you’re planning your Ineffable Con 7 trip!

I’ll be taking bookings closer to the date so follow this page for updates!

It is a walking tour, but as you can see, also wheelchair , so let me know if you’re interested but have access needs so I can advise on accessible public transportation routes to the start point and to get home again afterwards.

filming locations tour is in the morning: THURSDAY 14th August. We meet at 10:30am sharp outside Costa Coffee at the corner of st. Pancras.

It’s hot so please remember to carry water and a fan if you can. Sunscreen and a hat is advisable.

I will have with me:

Icy cold water
Ice blocks
Evaporative cooling cloths that can be recharged with the cold water.

And also assorted other things if needed, such as plasters for blisters, antihistamines, paracetamol, ibuprofen. I also have fresh packets of disposable foam ear plugs which I recommend if you’re coming home via the Northern Line after the tour, as it gets PAINFULLY LOUD!

My native Londoner partner Matt (he/him, 6’4”) and American friend Jennette (she/her, small, purple hair) will be assisting me on the tour, so if you don’t quite hear something I’ve said, they will be able to repeat from the tour notes.

Please don’t hesitate to ask them if you have any questions or need any assistance!

I will be quite strict about keeping things moving as some tour guests are also going to do the National Theatre Tour at 4:30pm, so for everyone’s benefit please keep this in mind!

At the Enterprise we will be stopping for 20 minutes only for a quick refreshing drink, photos, and a bathroom break, then we will me moving on.

At Masala Zone at the Criterion we will be eating lunch, for which I’m aiming to allow 3/4 of an hour.

At Forbidden planet I suggest 20 minutes to have a browse for official merchandise from your favourite fandoms, don’t forget the book area downstairs! Many authors leave signed copies there so be sure to check your favourite authors’ shelves. Just remember that whatever you buy you will need to carry with you for the rest of the tour, so carry a backpack if you plan to get a couple of books! 😅

Please help us keep the tour moving so that everyone gets to their theatre appointments on time afterwards.

Thank you! Kirsty 😊❤️

We were watching an old early 1980s documentary about life in Soho the other week, and I spotted a few Good Omens tour locations, including Berwick (“Whickber”) street, and the corner of Duck Lane with what is now “Sounds of the Universe records”, which is the building most like the bookshop in the vicinity of Berwick Street. A fascinating skive of life in days gone by.

On Wednesday the 6th August I have a tour with space for more fans to join if you’d like.

The tour meets at 11am outside Costa coffee at the corner of St. Pancras, and costs £25.

It is a walking tour at a gentle pace on mostly level ground with plenty of stops for photos and refreshments along the way. It is wheelchair accessible & there are several accessible toilets along the route.

If you’re interested in joining please drop me a DM!

What do these places / things have in common?

Where we start the tour: St. Pancras.

Where we end the tour: Battersea Power Station.

And what we see along the way: iconic red phone boxes.

(Also, just a bonus at the end, the Tate Modern, and the Albert Memorial, while not on the tour, are also related.)

Stumped? Well they are all linked by grandfather and grandson architects Sir George Gilbert Scott, and Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.

Giles was responsible for the familiar red phone box design, Battersea Power Station, and the Tate Modern, which also used to be a power station.

George was responsible for the Albert Memorial, and St. Pancras hotel and railway station.

Of course both were responsible for many other iconic buildings around the UK, as was George Gilbert Scott Jr, George’s son and Giles’ father.

I hadn’t personally realised until today that some of my favourite iconic London landmarks were all designed by the same family!

I love that I never stop learning about London, so there’s always something new to mention on the tour. It may not always be Good Omens related, but it helps flesh out understanding of this unique and ancient city which goes back to Roman times.

While not on the tour for logistical reasons, today myself, my good omens friend, and our partners went to The Globe to watch “one of the funny ones”: the Merry Wives of Windsor. Naturally I took tiny crochet Crowley snek to see some SNAKESPEARE!

During the play, a fake plant fell onto the stage, fortunately it didn’t hit anyone, but it did surprise the actors.

We went to the Tate Modern beforehand as well and found an Aziraphale.

Part of why I only ever use black cabs in London, and reccommend others to as well. Quite aside from the accessibility, they are far superior to uber or lyft in every single way.

Firstly, Black cabs are usually CHEAPER than uber or lyfts.

The prices are set by LAW and worked out on a logarithm based on time and distance. All prices must be clearly displayed in the passenger compartment, usually framed on the bottom of the door. There is no "surge" pricing.

Unfortunately uber and lyft routinely scam travellers by paying to manipulate google results - if you google for a price to get a taxi from A to B in London, they will put their own links first and LIE about how much a black cab would charge you, pretending that it costs more than them, except it doesn't. This scams people into thinking that the ubrer is the cheaper option when it isn't.

In addition, black cab drivers do not benefit from taking you a longer route to get more money, as that doesn't work out for them due to how the meters and fare system works, and would actually harm their income. They cannot add anything to the meter themselves, they don't own them, they're set and locked independently, and leased by the cabbie.

They are more efficient at getting around London as ONLY black cab drivers spend usually over 4 years training to do "The Knowledge", which means they don't need sat navs or maps - they know every single street in central London from memory, and at least 3 different routes to get between any 2 locations. The pass rate is only about 40% as it is so rigorous it literally re-wires their brains.

This isn't hyperbole - alzheimer's researchers have recruited London Cabbies to do MRI scans on their brains to help research brain plasticity and found their hippocampus is actually larger than in the rest of the population!

They know every single major landmark, station, theatre, museum, embassy, hotel, place of worship etc. They even know about secret cut-throughs which don't even show up on maps, for example one nicknamed "the bat cave" - a secret tunnel under the Savoy hotel which cuts between two major roads and helps avoid traffic jams.

Uber and lyft simply cannot compare on any level.

I channelled my inner Crowley today in St. James’s Park with a pound coin and some superglue 😈

I doubt it’ll last long before someone chisels it up, but if it makes someone laugh, it’ll be worth the quid!

Oh and I also helped to rescue a pigeon! A tourist had caught one in the park with string coiled tight around both feet, but they had nothing to cut the string with.

I always have my multi tool with me so I carefully cut away the threads to free all his toes. It took a while and patience to do it safely, but I got it all off.

Unfortunately one toe had been constricted too long and already gone necrotic, but at least it freed up the rest of his feet and he won’t lose it all. Plus he can perch and walk again now. The constricted toe will auto-amputate and fall away on its own after a while.

Luckily I have a lot of experience in animal and bird rescue. This one was a case of being in the right place at the right time, with the right tools and the right experience! One cute little pigeon lives to see another day.

Entanglements can be fatal, stopping them walking, perching, or feeding properly through struggling to move about amidst the other pigeons. It often results in the loss of many toes or even entire feet. Having both feet tangled together would have been a very bad outcome for him if not saved.

One charming little item you can see on the tour is one of only 13 remaining cabbie's huts, in Russel Square as we go past. These are listed buildings, meaning they are protected due to historical significance.

There was a problem in the days of horse drawn cabs, of the drivers, being cold and wet, often going into pubs in between fares to keep warm, and of course they often got drunk as a result, and got a bad reputation. So in order to keep them sober, and provide them with somewhere safe and warm to get a cup of tea and a sandwich or hot meal, these iconic green huts were built around London where ONLY cabbies could come in for a rest and refreshment. The iron rail around the outside could be used to tether the horses to.

Nowadays, the 13 preserved cabbie's shelters still retain the rule of serving cab drivers only indoors, however members of the public can come up to the window to buy refreshments as well.

Welp, I can finally break my silence about a Good Omens secret I’ve been keeping for well over a year:

A little thread, now the cat is finally out of the bag and I’m allowed to talk about it: [contains quote post or other embedded content]
