Yesterday reminded me that sometimes, you need to step outside your normal routine to see things differently. ❤️
You guys know that this August, I’ve been OUTSIDE! 😂 Three weekends in a row, and at this point, I think enjoyment has officially become part of my schedule. But yesterday’s outing was different.
We had our annual TikTok Bash Party, and while there was plenty of food, games, laughter and enjoyment, what stood out to me the most was the knowledge and connections I came home with.
Different people shared their experiences about business, career growth, construction, insurance, investing in yourself and generally navigating life in the UK. And one statement really stayed with me:
“Where you are today should not limit where you’re going tomorrow.”
That was my biggest takeaway. 👏🏾
I’ve been in the UK for almost three years, and while I’m grateful for how far I’ve come, I also know I’m not yet where I want to be. I’m still learning, growing, figuring things out and working towards the life I want.
And something else I took away from yesterday is that progress doesn’t necessarily mean starting a business. Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. If you love your career, what are you doing to grow in it? What new skill can you learn? What qualification can you add? What can you do today that moves you closer to where you want to be tomorrow?
That really got me thinking.
We heard from people in different fields, including Stanley, who spoke about construction and upskilling, and Benga, who shared information about different types of insurance and financial protection in the UK. There were also business owners who shared their journeys and experiences. I’ll tag everyone I can remember because there was honestly so much valuable information in that room.
But it wasn’t serious talk throughout o! 😂 We ATE, played games, danced, laughed and enjoyed ourselves. For those few hours, I genuinely switched off from responsibilities and just had FUN. And sometimes, you really need that.
A massive thank you to Betty Ovrewae Abu for continuously creating opportunities like this for our TikTok community. ❤️ It takes a lot to bring people together, create a space where we can connect, learn and still enjoy ourselves. If you know Betty, you already know,if you have Betty in this UK, you no go miss road! 😂❤️
Yesterday filled my cup in so many ways, knowledge, connections, laughter, food and good company. I came home tired but inspired.
And yes, the FOOD deserves its own post because what I saw on those tables cannot be squeezed into this one. 😂😂
Let me leave you with the same question I came home asking myself: Where you are today may not be where you want to be, so what are you currently doing to get closer to where you want to go? 👇🏾❤️
