If there was ever a reason to stay in the UK this summer, it’s this.

We recently got the keys to Chapelwood House, a grand countryside manor hidden away in the Cheshire hills, which may have ruined all future group getaways for us.

From the outside, it’s all classic English country house charm. But inside? An indoor pool, hot tub, cinema room, beautifully layered entertaining spaces and the sort of kitchen that immediately makes you want to open a bottle and cook for hours.

Sleeping up to 18 guests across eight beautifully designed bedrooms, this is the sort of place nobody wants to leave. Mornings start with countryside walks and coffee in the courtyard, afternoons disappear by the pool, and, on a good day, there’s an outdoor pizza oven and bar to take advantage of.

More than anything, it feels made for being together. Long lunches, slow starts, second helpings, stories around the kitchen island and the inevitable conversation about whether anyone really needs to leave on Sunday.
