Cenotes are one of the things that make visiting this part of Mexico so unique, and are a brilliant way to cool off after time exploring.
Some are an adventure in themselves, hidden away in the jungle, and others are right where you least expect them like this one, Cenote Zaci in Valladolid, surprisingly located in the centre of town. It was incredible to jump in with the buzz of the nearby streets so close by.
Cenotes are natural sinkholes formed over millions of years, where the limestone has collapsed to reveal the crystal-clear freshwater beneath.
There are more than 3,000 cenotes across the Yucatán Peninsula. Many are part of a vast network of underground waterways, connected to each other beneath the surface.
Our Cenote experiences have been great fun and such a memorable part of our holiday here.
