As recently shared by the Tourism Alliance, Barclays’ latest consumer spending data offers some reasons for cautious optimism. Consumer card spending was up 2.0% in July, with Hospitality & Leisure spending rising 2.2% and Hotels, Resorts & Accommodation up 2.6%.
Despite ongoing cost pressures, consumers are continuing to prioritise holidays and leisure experiences – a tentative green shoot worth watching alongside the softer occupancy and RevPAR data reported over the summer.
