“S W E D E N 🇸🇪 has become the first country to be officially prescribed by physicians for travel.

In a landmark tourism marketing campaign, ‘The Swedish Prescription’ VisitSweden has partnered with healthcare professionals to encourage travel as a form of wellness therapy.”

The world is a strange place nowadays and it’s refreshing to see Sweden using common sense from a humanitarian perspective. This therapeutic approach to align the beneficial effects travel has on mental wellbeing is a great idea 💡.

World Travel & Tourism Council published a Trending in Travel Report in November 2021 and it’s an eye opening discovery of consumer trends, up-date policies post COVID-19 and statistics. 2021, 2022 and beyond.

From my own perception, within the Travel, Leisure & Tourism Industry and for travellers alike; the severity in the impact of Covid-19 has been undeniable and unforgettable.

The importance to evolve and adapt to change is paramount as we learn to navigate through this on-going pandemic and so many people around the world rely on Travel & Tourism and Hospitality to exist and live.

For avid travellers; from solo individuals to families, couples and groups of friends irrespective of age/stage/status in life - the toll of unfortunate deaths, political blunders, lockdowns and restrictions have only further encouraged people live life to its fullest and seek and enjoy exploration in abundance.

During lockdown Air, rivers, lakes and seas had a chance to cleanse and purify itself + I witnessed a new variety of species in birds chirp, sing and tweet and soar so freely on a daily basis. Nature rested, bloomed and flourished while humans had to remain still.

Perhaps now more than ever, there is mindfulness about the importance of genuine togetherness and sustainability on a local and global scale; to ultimately continue to move forward to protect our climate, planet, alleviate disparities in health and poverty and help each other grow and prosper.

If of interest - do have a read!

Useful in-depth information here included for travellers wishing to book a holiday/trip and return back to the UK.

It’s a nuisance that these tests are yet another additional expense we have to fork out when seeking a well deserved getaway and need to travel to see family etc, and can be costly with some providers. This shouldn’t even be a issue.

“Required tests can add £1,000+ to a family holiday, but some can get them from £20 per person. Use the tips below to bring down costs if you're travelling abroad this year.

Not all PCR tests are the same – make sure you get the right test. The Government has an approved list of providers for each test, and says each scheme has different standards. If you need a Day 2 test for your return to the UK, don't just get any PCR test – make sure the provider says it's suitable for Day 2 testing.

You need to book your return tests BEFORE you travel home. You'll need to fill out a passenger locator form online, any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK. It will ask for a booking reference to prove you've booked the necessary testing package (eg, Day 2 and Day 8 if you've visited an amber destination). You’ll need to show your form when you check in or board your plane, train or ferry.”

2022, come on! 🧜🏾‍♀️🧘🏾‍♀️✈️.

Not sure about which covid tests you need to travel abroad. Some destinations require you to take a test before leaving the UK and can be expensive for families. Use MoneySavingExpert's tips to lower costs.

Heyyy!

I hope everyone who has liked, shared and supported my home based travel agency services since Summer 2016 is good and well.

As of 16th May 2020, I am no longer trading via a third party. It’s a decision (to leave the travel industry) that’s been lingering for a while and once Covid-19 took hold of our world - my instincts became too strong to ignore.

From a consumer point of view, the landscape of travel has changed. Unfortunately, the structure and systems within the travel industry has not. As social-political issues continue to be at the forefront, the travel industry continues to hang on to old ways and lack progressive thought.

There is a glass ceiling that I feel will never be broken. Favouritism, racial and cultural biases continue to run rampant within an industry that should be leading the way and championing change for a fairer and safer society.

Instead, I see chats/articles and high priced seminars once every blue moon discuss diversity and inclusion for better representation of people of colour who work within travel & tourism + improving ethical behaviours and support/strengthen local economies in poorer/disadvantaged countries —> with a non diverse panel of speakers indulge and display tokenism to make it seem as if things are really moving forward. Rarely, will a travel agent or an employee for that matter who is actually doing the hard work, be invited (for free) to add nuance and perspectives to these said events.

The focus on trivial issues in comparison to a lack of consideration for individuals with disabilities also concerns me deeply. Also, I can’t promote countries that turn a blind eye to children being exploited for sexual gratification and continue to encourage colonial type travel experiences.

In addition, my aspirations and priorities have taken a different, more rewarding path. There have been many, many highs and achievements during my long number of years working as a Travel Consultant however, I’ve outgrown the role within the industry and days of my self-worth being defined by how many holidays, trips and ancillary products I sell are now happily behind me.

I will elaborate on my personal experiences on an alternative platform.
For now, this is it!

Wishing you all the best
