A well-travelled book, in every sense ✈️📖

Since launching in November 2025, more than 3,000 copies of Ultimate Horizons have made their way out into the world.

Inside, you’ll find stories and ideas gathered from across the globe: journeys designed by our travel experts, places worth lingering in, people worth meeting, and those smaller discoveries that often stay with you long after you return home.

Because no two people travel in quite the same way. Ultimate Horizons was created to spark curiosity, offer a different perspective and, perhaps, put somewhere unexpected on your own horizon. That idea sits right at the heart of the book: each traveller is unique, and each journey should be too.

Maybe it’s a milestone. Maybe it’s somewhere you’ve always wanted to see. Maybe you’re ready to go a little further, stay a little longer, or take the scenic route for once.

“I want to go on safari” is an exciting place to start, but Africa is too varied for one-size-fits-all advice 🐘

Before choosing a country, consider four things:

1. What wildlife would you most like to encounter?
2. Would you rather travel by vehicle, boat or on foot?
3. How remote do you want to feel?
4. Do you want safari alone, or a journey that also includes coast, culture or city life?

Rwanda’s forests, Namibia’s deserts and Zimbabwe’s wilderness offer completely different experiences. The right journey begins with how you want Africa to feel, not simply where everybody else goes.

Safari seasons are more nuanced than “wet” and “dry.”

July brings the Okavango Delta’s floodwaters together with Botswana’s dry season, creating superb conditions for both game drives and mokoro safaris.

August can place you close to the Great Migration in the northern Serengeti, while February’s drier conditions make Uganda particularly rewarding for gorilla and chimpanzee tracking.

Even the greener months have their advantages: fewer visitors, dramatic landscapes, prolific birdlife and young animals.

The best time to travel is the moment that suits your particular interests.

For their honeymoon, Maximillian and his partner wanted more than a single experience. They wanted adventure, remarkable wildlife and time to properly slow down.

Cassie, our Africa Specialist shaped those ideas into a journey through three distinct sides of Kenya: the cooler landscapes and intimate lodges of the highlands, a safari in the Masai Mara, then a few unhurried days beside the Indian Ocean.

It is a combination we particularly love for honeymoons. Each chapter feels different, but the journey stil flows naturally, building from anticipation and adventure towards complete relaxation.

Behind the scenes, every transfer, flight and arrival was carefully connected. In Maximillian's words, the entire trip was "completely seamless.”

Angola combines immense landscapes, rare wildlife and a powerful story of renewal.

There’s been plenty to talk about in travel lately.

A new opening on one of Indonesia’s lesser-visited islands, three villas we’re bookmarking for next summer, new journeys from Japan to Antarctica, and a handful of flight routes making some very interesting places easier to reach.

Here are a few things currently on our radar ➡️

Matt and Wahyu from our Marketing team were among the first guests to stay at NIHI Rote & Hospitality Academy & Hospitality Academy, a new 25-villa retreat on Rote Island at Indonesia’s southern edge.

The setting is deliberately remote, with long stretches of coastline, Rotanese-inspired villas and NIHI Sumba | Edge of Wildness™’s new hospitality academy forming part of the project.

Following their visit, we’ve put together our full review covering the journey there, what staying at NIHI Rote is actually like and who we think it will suit best.

From Japan’s compelling contrasts to the vast landscapes of South America, Tanzania’s wildlife and the changing rhythms of the Mekong, where will the year take you?

Begin among the elephants of Tarangire, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and continue across the Serengeti towards the Mara River.

Bush walks, day and night drives, private guiding and constantly changing landscapes make these 13 days a definitive Tanzanian safari.

Move between the energy of Ho Chi Minh City, four nights aboard the Aqua Mekong, the temples of Angkor and the white-sand shores of the Koh Rong Archipelago.

River communities, ancient history and coastal calm come together across 14 beautifully paced days in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Over 15 days, discover a country of compelling contrasts: electric cities and contemplative spaces, centuries-old customs and restless creativity, intricate cuisine and remarkable landscapes.

Ultimate Japan offers a richly layered introduction, thoughtfully arranged without losing its sense of discovery.

This 17-day journey is shaped by scale, solitude and some of South America’s most extraordinary landscapes.

Private guiding and beautifully considered stays with Awasi give you the freedom to explore according to your own interests. Here, luxury means time, space and the freedom to follow your curiosity.

Our marketing team, Matt and Wahyu, travelled through Singapore and Indonesia to discover who each stay suits and why its place in the journey matters.

Why stay at two hotels in one city? Only when they offer genuinely different experiences. In Singapore, we paired modern energy with timeless service to understand which traveller each style suits.

Best for design-conscious couples, friends and travellers who enjoy a lively, contemporary atmosphere. We chose The Singapore EDITION for its personality and fresh take on city luxury.

Best for travellers who value space, calm and reassuringly intuitive service. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore also works well for families and those who want their city stay to feel effortless from arrival.

Why combine four very different resorts in one journey? Because each reveals a different side of Indonesia. We moved from Buahan’s open-air stillness to the creative energy of Seminyak, then travelled further for the remoteness of NIHI Rote before ending with the privacy and calm of Raffles Bali.

Best for couples and nature-led travellers who genuinely want to disconnect. Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape open-air “No Walls, No Doors” concept makes the landscape part of the experience, so it suits those comfortable being close to nature.

Best for culturally curious travellers who want design, food and Seminyak’s energy within reach. After Buahan’s stillness, AM House located inside Desa Potato Head Bali showed us a more social and contemporary side of Bali.

Best for ocean lovers and travellers prepared to go further for somewhere remarkable. Our planning note: give remote places enough time. NIHI Rote & Hospitality Academy should be a memory filled chapter, not a hurried addition.

“Where should I go on safari?” is rarely the most useful place to begin.

First decide what you want more of.

More time on foot? Look at South Luangwa. Fewer vehicles? Time Northern Tanzania carefully or follow Botswana’s zebra migration instead. Somewhere your friends are unlikely to have visited? Angola is returning to the safari map. A complete change of pace at the end? Pair Kenya’s conservancies with Lamu.

Africa offers far more than one version of safari. The right question is not simply where to go, but how you want to experience it.

South America has a habit of exceeding expectations.

From Patagonia's glaciers to Peru's ancient citadels, Colombia's colourful streets to Antarctica's untouched wilderness, the magic is in knowing what to combine, when to go and where to slow down.

This month, our South America team shares four journeys we love, timely ideas for 2026 and 2021, and fresh field notes from Peru, Colombia and Antarctica.

Whether you are ready to plan or just beginning to explore, Claire, Jonny and Jacob would love to he shape the journey.
