Texas Flooding. One Week On.

We continue to think about the people, places and stories affected in Texas.

Our thoughts are with the camp communities of Mystic, Heart O’ the Hills and Stewart - and with everyone mourning the loss of campers and staff, including the incredible directors Dick Eastland and Jane Ragsdale. Their legacy lives on in the hearts of generations.

We are so proud of our Camp America participants, who showed courage and care in the most unimaginable circumstances.

To our International teams - thank you. From Friday morning and throughout the days that followed, you moved quickly and worked with care to support our participants on the ground and behind the scenes. Your presence meant everything.

Our thoughts are with the entire camp community - campers, staff, families, and locals - as the situation continues to unfold.

We are sharing your stories this month for Pride! 🌈 here is Emily and Maddie’s, who are heading back to camp Elks Moore this summer! ✨emilyygrace

“I arrived late to camp because of my A-Level Exam, and Maddie was the first person that I spoke to, whilst I ate dinner and everyone else was singing and jumping on the tables! We had the most incredible summer, and spent the weekend in New York with our friends, before I went home. I still, three years later, have the 10 dollars Maddie gave me, in the back of my phone!

In 2020, we started dating, just before lockdown hit (so not quite a summer romance, even if our friends thought it was…🤣)! I ended up staying in Belfast through the first lockdown! we certainly felt the distance more over Covid, but we made it work!’

This Pride 🌈 we asked you for your pride stories. We know camp is a place where so many find community, connection and confidence. This month we’re celebrating those stories. So here is Grace and Kyla’s! ✨

‘Hi! We first met Summer 2022 at Camp Copneconic in Michigan. Her name is Kyla and we met because we got covid traced by another girl and she put both of our names down on a list. We got sent to a covid cabin with other people and we quickly became friends. I thought she was super cool and obviously being from wales I was still trying to get my head around being in America and she was super helpful with that . Every night we would sit on the front porch of the cabin and watch the stars and then one day she kissed me and that was almost 3 years ago now :)’

We know lots of you are travelling this month to camp and we LOVE seeing you all arriving! ✈️
The first week can be crazy and it can be hard adjusting to camp life! But it can also be super fun and we guarantee those strangers you meet on your first day will become friends for life! 💜
So don’t worry if it all feels scary at first, you got this! 💪 and soon enough you’ll be on your last week wondering where the time went.
