Important Travel Updates for UK Nationals Visiting Schengen Countries

The EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES) is coming soon - here’s what you need to know to keep your journeys stress-free:

📅 Key timelines
The system is currently set to launch in October 2025 (though it could be pushed into 2026). As the timeline may shift, it’s worth keeping an eye on updates before you travel.

🛂 What to expect at Border Control
Travellers should prepare for longer wait times when entering the Schengen area - especially at:
✅ St Pancras
✅ Dover Port
✅ Folkestone Eurotunnel
Allow extra time to avoid unnecessary stress.

💻 Setting up your Digital Entry
On your first entry after the EES launches, you’ll:
👉 Provide your fingerprints
👉 Have a photo taken at a designated booth

This creates your digital travel record, valid for 3 years. For future trips, you’ll simply confirm your ID with a fingerprint or photo scan - no more passport stamps needed!
