WildWings The best bird and wildlife Travel Agency

We continue our policy of offering the highest quality trips, at the best value prices, many of which we pioneered over the years and we intend to continue to do so. Whilst many inferior copies of a number of our trips seem to abound nowadays, you may prefer to travel with the people with the vision and passion to explore and trail blaze in the first place.

During a visit to the edge of the Krau Wildlife Reserve during the recent Malay Peninsular tour, Limosa clients had amazing views of the remarkable Rufous-backed Dwarf-Kingfisher. Although mist-netting shows that this is a common forest understory bird, they are often difficult to see well. This particular bird was seen catching a newt during the prolonged views enjoyed by the group. Limosa's next Malay Peninsula tour runs from 2-14 February 2026. (photo ©Tracey Barber).

This lovely Blue-winged Pitta was photographed on the recent Limosa tour to Malay Peninsula, expertly led by Lee Kok Chung . The tour was very successful, with amazing views of many of the colourful forest birds that can be found in Peninsular Malaysia. This tour does not involve any hardship, since the tourist infrastructure in Malaysia is so good, and most birds can be seen without too much walking. Limosa's next Malay Peninsula tour runs from 2-14 February 2026. (photo ©Tracey Barber).

The 2025 West Pacific Odyssey is presently heading north from New Zealand, towards its final destination of Japan. Sadly, this will be the last WPO, at least for a few years. New Zealand Storm Petrel is one of the target species that passengers on the Heritage Adventurer should see during the first few days of the cruise. (photo © B. Stephenson).

The Guatemala birding tour run by Wildwings' sister brand Limosa had unbelievable views of Horned Guan earlier this month. Not only is this a hard bird to see well, and one of the most sought-after Central American endemics, but it is also one of the smartest guans (photo © Fernando Enrique Navarrete).

Boat trips on a short section of the Gambia River during Limosa's Senegal tour in January 2025 resulted in some excellent sightings, including a number of African Finfoots, like this juvenile (photo © Frank Lambert), as well as species such as Egyptian Plover, White-crowned Lapwing, White-backed Night Heron and Adamawa Turtle Dove.

The Wildwings 'Sri Lanka: Speciality mammals and endemic birds' tour, running from 20 March - 4 April 2025 (Price: £3,995) will become a guaranteed departure with only one more booking. If you are interested, please visit our website or contact our office.

The main focus of this special holiday are the four Sri Lankan cat species along with a fantastic range of other exciting mammals. The best chance of finding many of these is after dark and there will be multiple night drives where our targets include Fishing and Rusty-spotted Cats, Golden Palm Civet and both Grey and Red Slender Loris. Many other mammals can be expected including the endemic Purple-faced Langur, Indian Crested Porcupine and Golden Jackal, as well as good numbers of Asian Elephants and we will hope to repeat the success of our 2024 tour when the group had some stunning views of a feeding Leopard.

The holiday also includes a pelagic trip to look for cetaceans with the possibilities including Blue, S***m, Minke and Bryde’s Whales, as well as Spinner and Bottlenose Dolphins. Although this is primarily a mammal tour, a selection of Sri Lanka’s endemic birds can be expected.

Spoon-billed Sandpiper is now considered to be one of the rarest birds in the world and as a result of the tragic war in Ukraine, it is no longer possible to visit the breeding grounds of this enigmatic and critically endangered bird in the remote far east of Russia.

Nevertheless, there are still opportunities to see this unique species in Thailand and China so please check the calendars on the WildWings and Limosa websites for forthcoming tours where we hope to find “Spoonie”.

WildWings are proud to be the main Conservation Sponsors of Global Birdfair and this was one of the groups who were able to attend this important event last summer due to our financial support.

This obliging UralOwl was one of the highlights on this year's Limosa Hungary in Winter tour.

Featuring huge flocks of Greylags and Greater White-fronted Geese, the group also found small numbers of Lesser White-fronted Geese, a Tundra Bean Goose, two Red-breasted Geese and two Barnacle Geese in a single morning, whilst in nearby woodland, they had good views of Syrian, Middle Spotted, Great Spotted, and Black Woodpeckers along with Short-toed Treecreepers and Hawfinches.

This year's Indonesian Explorer cruise aboard the very comfortable Heritage Adventurer will be coming to an end shortly. It is an excellent trip to do with a non-birding partner since it provides an opportunity to mix birding with culture and snorkelling. Snorkelling with Whale Sharks is one of the highlights of the trip, as are cultural visits to remote communities such as the Asmat villages visited during this years cruise. (photo Frank Lambert). Please contact the Wildwings office if you are interested in this exciting voyage [Note that the itinerary changes year to year]
