So who fancies a break with a difference
A Retreat into Provenance
Totally relax and indulge on a long weekend that truly gets you in touch with the landscape and the culinary riches it produces, and is a genuine field to fork experience.
You’ll be staying in a beautiful thatched hideaway, a romantic detached cottage where you’ll enjoy delicious home-grown food, and get a real taste for ‘the good life’, that is that pure, outdoors, self-sufficient lifestyle.
As the only guests on the idyllic 7 acre smallholding, you can spend your time meeting the friendly, rare breed sheep and pigs, and fall in love with the resident cats and wonderful sheepdog.
Collect fresh eggs from the free-range chickens each morning, watch the ducks go swimming on the picturesque pond, and sample some of the produce from our vegetable garden.
This retreat aims to draw links between ethically grown produce and the food we eat at home, helping you get to know how real good quality produce can result in outstanding results. You’ll learn how to make fresh pasta from duck or chicken eggs, mozzarella cheese from the raw milk from an award-winning, local and highly ethical dairy, as well as your own cured meats.
All food is included and freshly made. Breakfast is served with home-baked bread, sausages and bacon from our pigs, eggs from our chickens and tomatoes from the vegetable garden. Everything on your plate you can see in the smallholding.
Lunches and suppers are the complete field to fork experience – from the two summer lamb and dauphinoise, to the home-grown guanciale carbonara, to the wood-fired sourdough pizzas. On this retreat, indulgence is everything, and you’ll taste food like you’ve never tasted before.
Each night you’ll stay in the elegant Linhay, with meals brought to you on the private balcony overlooking the apple and plum orchard, or if the weather isn’t so great, in front of the cosy log burner.
On one of your evenings in the smallholding, an al fresco ‘field kitchen’ dining experience will be prepared, served as you sit next to a crackling fire pit, underneath the clear Devon sky.
