With autumn well and truly on its way, here are some of our favourite walks to explore to see all the shades of the change in the season 🍂

📍Fritham is off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. 4 miles, mostly gravel paths. We recommend eating at The Royal Oak - a super cosy pub, off the beaten track. You can cosy up in front of the wood burner with one of their excellent ploughman's, a perfect post-bike ride or hiking stop!

📍Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, one of the most spectacular woodland trails in Britain. Just shy of 11 miles, we recommend parking at Blackwater, from there, you can walk through the arboretum, which showcases a lot of different trees, including two great big Canadian Redwoods!

📍The Bolderwood Trail is a magnificent 2-mile walk leading you through some of the oldest parts of the forest. Set out from the Radnor Stone, where you can follow the trail, finishing at a deer viewing platform where you can quietly watch the resident herd of fallow deer grazing.

📍The Ashurst trail is a 3-mile circular walk through ancient pastures that captures the character of the New Forest. Starting at Ashurst Railway Station, this is a really easy walk to see the autumnal colours.

📍Denny Wood Walk is an easy 3-to-5-mile circular walk encompassing all the shades of autumn, through one of the park’s designated ancient and ornamental woodlands.

📍The wonderful Lyndhurst walk follows waymarks along easy-going gravel tracks, traversing nine-and-a-half miles of Hampshire countryside, exploring the historic woodland corridor that lies between the villages of Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.

Save this post for your late summer purple heather hunt🪻

In the late summer, the New Forest bursts into shades of pink and purple as its heathlands come alive with millions of tiny heather flowers. From open heathland and rolling hills to sweeping valleys, the landscape is transformed into a spectacular sea of colour.

But be quick, as the display only lasts a few weeks, making early September a particularly special time to go looking for it 🌳

New property! White Lady is a stunning contemporary house in the ever-favourite Milford on Sea.

This home is made for family gatherings or celebrations and is located in a prime location, giving you the option to choose to spend the day by the coast or in the forest 🌊🌳

Enjoy the easy stroll to the village green to pick up all your amenities, with a delicatessen, a wonderful bakery, butcher, fruit & veg shop and newsagents; you will have everything you need! Grab a bite to eat at one of the places to eat; we really recommend The Paddle on the Green for breakfast, The Beach House for a fish & chips lunch on the beach and The Cave for a delicious tapas dinner.

Well the first reason is...why wouldn't you?! September might be one of our favourite months in the New Forest. You can start to see little subtle changes in the season, but the days are still warm, with evenings cooling down enough to warrant snuggling underneath a blanket with a cup of tea 😌 🫖

September brings Pannage pigs snuffling for acorns, autumnal colours making the forest turn every shade of orange, yellow and red, curious fungi popping up on the forest floor, and delicious dishes rustled up by local producers using fruits and vegetables from the autumn harvest.

We can't wait for all of it 🌳
