Cranscombe Barn, Brendon

Cranscombe Barn, Brendon Peacefully located amid spectacular countryside So there are 2 ways to find us easily:
1. Use the app called "What 3 Words" it's on Android and Apple.

Dear Guests, some of you have struggled to find us as we are on an Unknown Road (we all call it Cranscombe Hill), but on all maps it says Unknown Road. Search for Cranscombe Farm on Google Maps, we are on there and you should get a route
2. Our 3 words are "September - Bongo - Nibbles", which is nice 🙂

There is much excitement here on Exmoor, as tomorrow is Brendon Pony Sale (which is essentially our answer to Henley Regatta, Wimbledon and Glastonbury all rolled into one). Expect a blinding amount of country check, a field full of tat, some sheep, possibly a token pony, and several drunken locals (me being one of those). Like most things, it was better back in the day, with a menagerie of various animals, epic tug o' war battles and dialects completely unknown to anthropologists and ethnographers.

This photograph, taken in 1972 by reknowned photographer and cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins, shows the barns at Leeford Farm, the location of the Pony Sale. The stone barn behind the pig shed used to be the bar, and as a child it was always exciting going in there to buy a bottle of coke, surrounded by friendly giant drunken farmers and the sound of Exmoor.
