TravelLab has joined a new accredited consortia, Mid Counties Co-op Ltd.
This includes ATOL protection and two new ABTA numbers. Our previous Consortia the Freedom Travel Group is gone.
Onwards and upwards as they say.
P7503 is the ABTA for our Frodsham branch which also fullfils most of our online business.
P7504 is the ABTA for our Macclesfield branch
Our clients have always been at the heart of everything we do. The last week dealing with the Thomas Cook fallout has been the most challenging week of my life.
This Thomas Cook failure had implications far and wide and continues to do so. We are continuing to resolve a number of issues to do with the failure of Thomas Cook.
BOOKINGS MADE AFTER 23 September 2019: Any new bookings proceed under the new ABTAs
BOOKING MADE BEFORE 23 September 2019: All have been booked with ATOL and/or ABTA protection.
The majority of bookings made under the old ABTA numbers fall under the categories below:
1. Thomas Cook Package Holidays bookings will not travel as they ceased trading. These will be an ATOL claims through the CAA starting 7 October (was meant to be 30 September)

2. Other Package holidays with Thomas Cook Airlines within the booking are being re-protected onto new flights where possible. If there are no flights these may need to be cancelled and the tour operator will refund you.

3. Bookings we made through our old consortia’s ATOL 6042 are being handled in a number of ways. These are bookings we packaged with various operators and placed them within one booking under the Freedom Travel Group’s ATOL facility. We only have in the region of 20 bookings under this ATOL. We are keeping in touch with all of these clients.

4. Cruise bookings – some cruise operators will automatically take over the booking and deal with you directly. We will offer assistance to any of these clients. Some clients are receiving information that ‘the company’ has failed, that was the Freedom Travel Group consortia and not TravelLab. Call us if you need any information on this.
5. Stand alone bookings made through Kuoni, Gold Medal, Inghams and other tour operators. Those are operating as normal unless Thomas Cook flights are part of the itinerary

People are receiving phone calls and emails stating they can get an immediate refund on their Thomas Cook holidays by providing bank/card information.

This is NOT the case! The only way you can get your money back is via the CAA and ATOL. Please don’t be fooled! The correct details are below for your information

As a result, we are sorry to inform you that all holidays and flights provided by these companies have been cancelled and are no longer operating. All Thomas Cook's retail shops have also closed.

An Emotional Update from Jai at TravelLab

Please let me preface this statement with this. I am saddened and lost that 25000+ Thomas Cook Group employees lost their jobs today in the UK and overseas.

More companies will surely feel this pain too in the coming days and weeks. I wish our industry friends and colleagues every success and we are here with you in spirit.


This is very long, please bear with me as you read through this novel!

The Freedom Travel Group consortia was also placed under administration this morning.

My companies, TravelLab (P7290 and L8925) are being fast-tracked with the support of the CAA and ABTA over to a new consortia and we will be trading in a couple days time. We are a victim of being with the wrong consortia which when I joined was part of the Co-op, long story!



ALL OF OUR CLIENTS MONEY IS SAFE in some shape or form.

Your bookings in many cases will be honoured by the various tour operators they are booked through.

Thomas Cook bookings will be cancelled and many Freedom Travel Group ATOL 6042 bookings will be cancelled even if suppliers are paid.

Currently all P7290 and L8925 bookings/data are in the control of the administrator and we are getting very little communication. Almost zero!

Clients with canceled bookings will be able to make claims to recover money with the CAA or ABTA depending on the elements of the booking.

I am so very sorry if your dream holiday is cancelled but please be patient with us. We will do what we can and we will be open and honest with you.

An open letter to our valued clients past, present and future,

I am personally lost for words but here goes...

Today 25000 people lost their jobs at Thomas Cook. I am shocked and saddened.

We are an agent and have many clients affected by this failure. We will be assisting clients in date order and claims will need to be done through the CAA.

I have no doubt other operators will be exposed to Thomas Cook airline seat purchases. We have many such bookings through various operators and those will also need to be sorted.
