He is one of The Gambia’s most respected and experienced bird guides, renowned for his deep knowledge of West African wildlife and his warm, engaging guiding style. Originally from The Gambia, he has spent more than 25 years leading birding and nature tours across both The Gambia and neighboring Senegal.

Known for his enthusiasm, patience, and commitment to conservation, Dembo Sonko offers travelers not only the chance to see hundreds of species but also to experience the warmth of Gambian hospitality and culture through the eyes of a true local naturalist.
Dembo is our Africelt Vulture Research coordinator and works closely with the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management

We are delighted to welcome Steve Phillipps to the Natoura Voyage guiding team. Steve has been filming wildlife around the world for 25 years for major broadcasters including BBC, National Geographic and Discovery. Steve is one of the core wildlife camera operators on the popular BBC series “Springwatch” and his most recent series was “The Americas” for NBC and BBC.
Steve will be guiding a tour to Sri Lanka in November.
