Planning a Far East trip is a bit like standing in front of a very big map and not knowing where to put your finger first.

The mistake we see most often is trying to fit everything in. The trips that work best are built around what you actually want from your time away.

Two from the reel we'd happily recommend:

The 14-day first-timer route: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, then Khao Lak. You get the buzz of the city, a calmer, more cultural few days in the north, and then a proper beach finish to wind down. For anyone new to this part of the world, that gentle change of pace is what makes it work.

The 18-day wildlife route: Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, then Borneo. It's a longer trip, but the time is what gives you a proper chance to settle into each place rather than rushing through. We'd suggest it for anyone who wants their holiday to feel like a real adventure.

November is one of those months where people start saying they need a bit of light and warmth, and we get a lot of messages asking where to go.

The honest answer is that it depends on what you want from the trip. If you're after something with real variety, Japan in November is a good shout. If you'd rather keep it relaxed and easy, Madeira suits a gentler break without a long journey.

That's the bit we enjoy most about our job. Two people can ask for the same month and need completely different holidays. We can compare destinations side by side, find the right hotel, build an itinerary or simply help you work out what you want from your time away.
